BIKE LOCKER LOTTERY FOR BELLMORE STATION In yet another article promoting the myriad benefits of bicycle riding, I came across this interesting incentive in the newspaper: Until March 19th @ 4 p.m., Bellmore residents can submit an entry form to possibly win one of eight available bike lockers for a no-cost, one year lease. Lottery applications can be obtained by calling 516.812.3026 The lockers are located at the Bellmore Long Island Railroad station on the north side of the tracks and require a $40 key deposit which is refunded at the end of the year. The Dept. of Transportation provides bike lockers that are 4 ft tall, 6 ft long and 3 1/4 ft deep. according to the town officials who further state that subleasing is not permitted. I decided to do an Open House on my South Bellmore waterfront property today with the full realization that the likelihood was, there would be little to no traffic on this absolutely beautiful Memorial Day weekend.  After a brutal winter and a water logged spring, people were champing at the bit to have something to celebrate.  With events all over Long Island commemorating the reason for this holiday, those who died in the service of this country, there was no shortage of places to go.  All you needed was some gas in your car and a willingness to deal with the traffic to get there. When I walked out to the deck of my waterfront listing in South Bellmore yesterday, the crocus proclaimed loudly that spring was indeed upon us.  My heart soared.  After this long and arduous winter, we and all of natures bounty deserve a rebirth.  A secondary reason for my unbounded positive energy today comes by way of my new smart phone, which, by the way is responsible for this photo.  With a quality 5 megapixel rear facing camera, it captured some great shots.  I was even able to crop this one without it degrading too much, making it a viable option when I forget to tote my SLR with me.
