Santa Fe, NM Real Estate News

Santa Fe has been blustery for over a month now and many of are exhausted by it - however there is a good side.  The wind is blowing in buyers like one would not believe.  With 3 under contract and 6 more buyers looking.  I have to believe that as blustery as we have been it is worse elsewhere.  So I will keep taking my allergy pills, keep those tissues handy, and keep driving those beautiful buyers around town.

Did you hear? The Lilacs are blooming in Santa Fe. You can find them nearly everywhere calling out for you to stop everything for a moment and just enjoy their beauty. These white ones caught my eye in between the the next phone call or text or email or tweet. Frankly, I can not remember. I saw them glow in the afternoon light and knew my imagination came first. Hope the next time your imagination calls, you will answer.

There are moments when Santa Fe expresses itself beyond being the City Different. These outtakes from our traditional Pet Parade is one of the events. In fact, everyone seems to mark their calendars and start talking about Fiesta months ahead and as soon as the snow begins to melt. Perhaps because the weather accelerated from 33 to 66 today, I began to think about walking the pup on the Plaza. Then I remembered... Desfile de los Ninos and our amazing Pet Parade. You see, Santa Feans love their Historic Plaza and given the opportunity parades will quickly become a tradition. The celebration of Fiesta is one of those amazing Kodak moments when it seems all Santa Feans come together with their pets and parade through the Plaza.  In between the high school marching bands and the fire truck...

If you wonder why Santa Fe, New Mexico is the city different after 400 years, this cowboy passing through downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico with his dog should give you a good idea. The spirit of the West is part of our story and woven into the history and legends of the Santa Fe Trail connecting pioneers, traders, families, adventures and anyone wanting a change in lifestyle to Santa Fe. The legends of the Trail continue to instill interest in Santa Fe now in our 400th year. I wish I could tell you more about this unknown cowboy I photographed on the corner of West Alameda and Guadalupe. We were both waiting for the traffic light to change. He was walking his horse and dog and I was in my car. We never spoke. He waved when I gave him the thumbs up after clicking the shutter. The image has...

Have we done enough? Have we let those close to us know we love them? Have we told them we care. Or have we taken for granted that they know. I ask each of you to make that call. Don't take it for granted that your mother, your father, your child, or your friend know. Tell them now, tell them you love them and tell them how much they influenced your life. Don't wait and wonder later if they knew.

I love the snow and I hate the snow.  I love to look out at the snow and enjoy it's beauty and sereneness.  I hate the cold, the wet and icy roads.  I love snow days and baking ginger snaps.  I hate shoveling the walkway.  I love the smell of pinion and cedar burning in the fireplace.  I hate cleaning the fireplace.  I love crunching through the snow.  I hate falling down in the snow.  I guess you could say I have a love/hate relationship with snow!

I have no excuse - just hit a wall and didn't know what to write about which when I think about it - it is quite ridiculous.  I am one who is never at a loss for words or things happening in my business or personal life.  So the real reason - I didn't think anyone was watching.  But when you get notices that so & so wants to follow your blog, friend you, be your tweet pal it is time to get back into the flow.  So before the month ends I resolve to lose 12 pounds, blog at least 3 times per month, participate in at least 4 charitable functions, and smile even more.

Harry's Roadhouse near Arroyo Hondo, Seton village, Route 66, and Old Las Vegas trail has food that is northern New Mexico style with specials weekly. The food is inspired and interesting. Home cooked style meals are comforting and very good. Breakfast is one of the best kept secrets for us early risers. 7am and you can sit down diner style and eat well and quick in the "diner" tradition yet it quality is of a 5 star restaurant at an excellent price. Locals know this is the best stop between Eldorado & Lamy areas and the plaza. It's so good that people sometimes line up and wait patiently for an unforgettable meal. Whenever I have guest in town, which is frequently, I place Harry's at the top of the list.

Dos Santos Santa NM is centrally located just off St. Michael's and St. Frances Avenues with the plaza to the north, the St. Vincent's hospital to the east, I-25 and Rancho Viejo to the south and Santa Fe Place, Cerrillos road to the west. And best of all it's just minutes to Harry's Roadhouse Restaurant.. one of the best food eateries in Santa Fe.With values dropping 30-50% in the last few years, it's an irresistible condo community, especially for first time home buyers. It is one of the few places in Santa Fe that has a year round whirlpool and pool! And a fenced dog run on the western edge along St. Frances. Recently, Dos Santos went to Self Management and Scot Eastwood is the manager who is getting maintenance and improvements done!

Eldorado at Santa Fe New Mexico finds the bottom in real estate. Buyers will look back on these days and fondly recall how they made one of their best purchases in the Eldorado community in 2010. Buyers have their "pick-of-the-litter" in Eldorado right now. Many buyers look in Eldorado first before considering purchasing in another neighborhood because it's the best value right now. Not only are they getting best priced properties in Eldorado, but also they are getting the great neighborhood goodies with it. If you research what is selling here you'll find it's the low price and all the amenities! Eldorado offers horse trails and horse boarding as well. Homes for sale that have been well maintained and new features added during the last few years are going quickly. And the views from E...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN ... This is my 5th or 6th posting regarding our trip from Ocean City (NJ) to Novato (CA) ... the subtitle:  "Taking Scoop's (my late father) Chevy to California for Nick and Cori (our son and his wife).  We have just spent three nights in Santa Fe, New Mexico which was one of our locations where we had planned to stay for a bit longer.  We started out on Thursday (12/10/2009) driving to Tennessee, next day to Arkansas, third day to Amarillo (TX) and the fourth day in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We are also sending back to friends and co-workers, and others a newsletter using the same name ... if interested, let me know your email.  We hit just a bit more detail on that one.  We have found Santa Fe to be a lovely small city, a walking place ... but the colder weather got you ...

Christmas at The Palace-The Neighborhoods of Santa Fe, New Mexico by Michael Umphrey on December 1, 2009 Christmas at The Palace - The Neighborhoods of Santa Fe, New Mexico This first week of December is an exciting time for most Santa Fean's.  Farolitos are in place along the rooftops, the shops are "dressed in holiday style", we've had a gentle dusting of snow and I'm rehearsing the tunes from my CD, "A Tender Santa Fe Christmas".  The first time our son, Nick, sat on Santa's knee was in the courtyard of the Palace of The Governors in downtown Santa Fe.  It is the oldest continually occupied public building in the United States. December 11th is the 25th annual  Christmas at the Palace. On the 13th is Las Posadas which re-enacts the travels of Mary and Joseph. Every day and night, som...

Camino De Las Animas - The Neighborhoods of Santa Fe, New Mexico by Michael Umphrey on November 21, 2009 Camino De Las Animas - The Neighborhoods of Santa Fe, New Mexico The smell of the sleeping streets calms me on my morning walk through Camino De Las Animas. Birds sing and the dogs bark. It's a short lane near downtown Santa Fe with a gorgeous abundance of Victorian, Territorial and Pueblo Revival architecture.  No less prominent is the home of one of our most famous artists, Gustav Baumann, now owned and preserved by the Historic Santa Fe Foundation.  Several homes on this street are included in the National Register of Historic Places. When you come to visit Santa Fe, be sure to take a stroll on this magical street to see why life in this city is so enchanting.  While you're here, ...

Vista Redondo - The Neighborhoods of Santa Fe, New Mexico by Michael Umphrey on November 4, 2009 Vista Redondo - The Neighborhoods of Santa Fe, New Mexico This week let's  ease into a gentle stream of traffic and in just 12 minutes emerge onto a majestic New Mexico landscape and a neighborhood called Vista Redonda. It's perched upon four mesas above the Village of Tesuque with spellbinding vistas of the snow capped mountains and staggeringly brilliant sunsets.  Home to movie stars and captains of industry, the upscale, water-wise community totals almost 700 acres and 82 luxury homes.  There is also easy access to the adjacent National Forest. My wife doesn't know it yet but I'll be taking her to the fabulous Terra Restaurant for our 14th wedding anniversary next week.  Located next to V...

Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus, and he is sometimes otherwise known as Closings.  I was fortunate enough to close two deals in the last two weeks, and also a referral closing.  I have another tied up with a few lender issues but that too should be closing within the next two weeks.  So have a few checks in hand has been a wonderful thing, and I can tell you my credit card companies were very happy about this as well.  So here's to all of you my fellow brokers - I wish you well and may the blue ink soon be dotting your offers.  I wish all of you very quick and successful closings!
