The Bosque Farms Rodeo Association maintains a premier location for New Mexico rodeos, horse shows, and other equine-related activities, as well as such community events as the Bosque Farms Community Fair.  With facilities located just 15 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Bosque Farms Rodeo Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of a rural, equestrian lifestyle. To this end, the association maintains a top quality horse arena, used regularly for horse shows, barrel racing, roping, dressage, and other equine activities, as well a "Cowboy Hall" that hosts birthday and wedding celebrations, community dances, meetings, community fair exhibits, and other family, community, and business gatherings. One of the association's regularly spo...

Bosque Farms has always been an agricultural and very horse-friendly community...but this once sleepy, rural little town has recently begun transforming into a primarily residential area that is mixed with agriculture, and this has been a concern for many long-time residentsYou've probably seen this happen elsewhere; it's typical for folks to flee the crowded urban scene to pursue their vision of a bucolic lifestyle. But their vision often doesn't include roosters crowing at dawn, farmers baling hay in the wee small hours, or, especially, the smell of manure! So they go to work exercising the force of their incoming numbers to try to legislate against the very rural lifestyle that long-time locals have enjoyed for generations. The good folks of Bosque Farms don't want to see that happen ...

Bosque Farms is such a great place to live!I wanted everyone out there to have a chance to visit right away, at least virtually...As I've explained before, my wife and I have really loved bringing up our daughters in Bosque Farms. It is one of the few places that still has that true "small town" community spirit, where folks know their neighbors, and, indeed, know most of the rest of the town! Our local community fair, active 4H clubs, great village facilities for Little League and soccer teams, horse shows and rodeos, playgrounds for the small fry and basketball, sand volleyball, and tennis courts for the slightly less small, community center, library, and new municipal buildings, availability of such services as community water and sewer and an active Community Watch program, all cont...

But Bosque Farms is sooooo far out, isn't it??! Not really! (At least, not unless you mean it in the old "John Denver" sense of "Far Out!"   We've lived in Bosque Farms for many years, and just love it. It's not uncommon, though, for other Albuquerque-area residents, or out-of-towners, to assume we Valencia County residents have a really long commute to get from our homes into the city. They couldn't be more wrong! We can get to most of Albuquerque's sights, and sites, far more quickly than any of our friends who are trying to travel in from Rio Rancho, Corrales, or even the far Northeast Heights! It takes us 17 minutes, on average, to get to the airport, and about 20 minutes to get downtown, to UNM, or to Presbyterian Hospital, for example. In 25 minutes, we can be at Journal Center,  al...

My wife, Laura, and I have lived in Bosque Farms, for many years, and have found it a great place to raise a family.Where else in the Albuquerque area do local residents preserve an old-fahioned, annual Community Fair, complete with family-friendly activities like a greased-pole contest, rodeo, and talent show? This generations-old community tradition offers plenty of opportunities for local kids to show their rabbits, sheep, poultry, and other farm animals; to exhibit and win blue ribbons for their art work, baking, garden produce, or canned goods; to dig for coins in the money pit or enjoy Sno-cones or hot dogs while watching Mom and Grandma compete in the rolling-pin throw? The Bosque Farms Fair is a true slice of old Americana, and one of the first expereinces that won our hearts to...
