There's a new kid in town.. Gerry and Robert Cerrigone have done it again.  If you are currently enjoying the atmosphere and dishes at Fin Raw Bar in Montclair, you should definitely make the trip to their newly opened location in nearby Summit.  Fin Raw Bar, voted the best seafood in Essex County 2 years in a row and counting!  The menu boasts a healthy mix of fresh fish, pasta, and meat - although definitely known for their variety of fish.  Guests are encouraged to "bring their own" which is a nice change from other restaurant hot spots in Summit. The restaurant is unique with it's rustic, homey and comfortable atmosphere.  Fin Raw Bar And Kitchen is open for dinner Tuesday thru Thursday from 5pm - 10pm and Friday & Saturday from 5pm - 11pm.  They are open Sunday from 4pm - 9pm.  Thi...

The Eatery at 447 Springfield Avenue (Corner of Woodland Avenue in the Strand Mall), Summit, NJ 07901 is a restaurant with a refreshing concept for eat-in, take-out (including curbside pick up from Woodland) and catering!  Located on the upper floor of the Strand Mall in downtown Summit, the decor is clean and bright, very welcoming and offers free wi-fi rather like an "Internet cafe."  The menu has been carefull selected with farm to table freshness and healthy eating in mind and the dishes are beautifully presented.    On a recent visit my dining companion and I chose from a delicious array of sliders - both traditional and non-traditional - and salads.  My companion ordered the roasted chicken slider and a house salad, while I ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad.  I was literally spo...

Roots Steak House, 401 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901 is part of the Harvest Restaurants Group which also includes 3 West, Ciao Cucina, Huntley Taverne, Tabor Road Tavern, Trap Rock Restaurant & Brewery and Urban Table.  I am a real fan of Harvest Restaurants and have dined (several times) at five of them - the other two are on my radar screen.  Recently I went for dinner at Roots Steak House, a short distance from my home in Summit, and a venue that is buzzing with activity, happy looking and sounding diners and innovative cuisine.  Without doubt, Roots Steak House is known for its excellent steaks however it also serves an abundance of fish and shellfish, all incredibly fresh, beautifully presented and interesting.  I am never disappointed and find it difficult to decide what to...

Summit Thai Cuisine, 34 Maple Street, Summit, New Jersey is another local restaurant that my family and I really enjoy.  We used to drive out to Stirling to Thai Thai and then, miraculously, Summit Thai Cuisine opened here about eight years ago.  Again, we can walk to Summit Thai Cuisine from our house and we like to support the local businesses in town whenever we can.    Summit Thai Cuisine has a very peaceful atmosphere and a wonderful menu with good, attentive service from the delightful wait staff.  Some or our favorite appetizers include Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and Curry Puffs.  We then like to go on to either Crispy Duck Salad (at lunch time the salad is perfect as an entrée or shared between several people as an appetizer at dinner) or one of the soups if it is cold (the...

Taka Sushi Restaurant, Summit, New Jersey is one of my family’s favorite places to eat locally.  We can walk to the restaurant from our home and, rain or shine, it is always worth the short stroll.  My daughters grew up loving Sushi and it was a “requirement” that there was Sushi either on campus or close by when my eldest daughter was looking for a college!  Both girls have visited Japan and so Japanese cuisine is part of our family life.  I often recommend Taka Sushi to my friends, colleagues, buyers and sellers.   Taka Sushi offers great service and a menu that is interesting and delicious.  One of our favorite appetizers is Rock Shrimp – shrimp cooked “tempura-style” and then coated in a creamy, spicy sauce – and we nearly always order it.  As Taka Sushi is a BYOB restaurant we some...
