Are you thinking of selling a home in Ridgewood NJ because you are relocating, downsizing or transferring jobs?  Whatever the reason for your move, one of the first things you will need to do is select a Ridgewood Real Estate Agent to market your home.  There are hundreds of agents here in Ridgewood, so how do you choose?  Below are a few basic guidelines.       Don't take the real estate agent's word for it when she says she is great.  She may very well be great, but ask for references anyway. Ask to see the agent's web site.  Does he have one?  If so, does it focus on Ridgewood or does it say something like "I specialize in Bergen County real estate".  Bergen County is a big place.  I'm not sure you can really specialize in a 247 square mile area with nearly a million residents and 70...

Don't worry if you can't get to California, I have been trying to get Rick involved in Bergen County and the New York City area. Something should be in the works really soon. 1.       Ridgewood is the best place in NJ to raise a family. I say this is because Ridgewood is unique in that it is one of the few affluent towns where residents still get to know their neighbors and really feel a sense of community.  Many other affluent towns are filled with huge McMansions set on large lots where you barely see your neighbors - much less get to know them.  For example, within a week of moving to Ridgewood a neighbor planned a BBQ to introduce us to other neighbors and took note of the ages of our children and made sure to invite families with children of similar ages so our kids could instantly make friends.  Our children have numerous friends, within walking distance, and can "cut-through yards" to see these friends whereas in other towns almost every interaction w...

Over the past 6 months how many different opinions have you heard about the conditions of the current residential real estate market? We have been inundated by the expertise and predictions of every financial talk show host in the United States tellng the public "Whatever you do, don't buy a house now!" While these individuals are extremely knowledgeable and are highly regarded, I believe that they have missed the mark by treating residential homes as if they were stocks and bonds, which are are bought and sold every day as an "investment". The vast majority of the buyers of residential real estate still purchase their homes as shelter for the long term. The last time we experienced a downward adjustment in housing prices in my market, Ridgewood N.J. was in 1991 where the average price ...

On Saturday evening, the eve of the Super Bowl, Ridgewood had their annual Super Bowl Eve Chili Cook-off.  I wish I had heard about this earlier!  The evening included viewing "Football Follies," guest speakers, door prizes and more.  The food for the event was donated by a number of local businesses including Best of Everything, Broad Street Smokehouse and Grill, the Daily Treat, the Silver Spoon and the Office.  I wish I was there to taste some of the various chilis and see whose was the best!  Count me in for next year!

Dawn and I started dating in 1987. One of my favorite bands back then was Dokken. They were actually the band I wanted to see most in the 1988 concert tour Monsters of Rock. This is my last chance to let you all know how proud we are here in Bergen County of the New York Giants! Super Bowl XLII is only hours away. I was hoping for this matchup December 29th. The Patriots were coming to New Jersey and I was predicting a Super Bowl Preview. People commented that there really was no chance. We lost a close game that night, but played well. The following week we went to Tampa Bay (we were supposed to lose on the Road) but we won again. We moved on to Dallas again no chance at winning. Tony Romo must have been tired from his trip to Mexico and handed us the game (as the Cowboys fans put it). We moved on again. Off to Green Bay to play in the freezer bowl. 2 missed field goals and then finally a 47 yarder that got us to where we are today. There is only one team ...
