Princeton's Battle Monument is within a stones throw of our Nations office on Nassau Street in Princeton Boro. It sits at the entrance to Boro Hall and is adjacent to Morven. This beautiful stone monument commemorates the January 3, 1777 Battle of Princeton and depicts General George Washington leading his troops to victory and the death of General Hugh Mercer. The monument was commissioned in 1908 and designed by sculptor, Frederick MacMonnies of prominent Beaux Art, with the assistance of architect Thomas Hastings. In 1922 the monument was dedicated and President Warren G. Harding was present.
