Spotlight on Little Silver, New Jersey!Little Silver is a small borough of Monmouth County in New Jersey, with a population of around 6,000. The area comprises 3.315 square miles, with 2.708 square miles of land and 0.607 square miles of water. The area borders other Monmouth County municipalities like Fair Haven, Oceanport, Red Bank, and Rumson.Though the area was originally populated by the Navesink Native Americans, the name Little Silver was established with a King’s land grant in 1663. The area’s first European residents were primarily farmers, fishermen, and merchants. The name Silver Creek is said to derive from early settlers to the area, Joseph and Peter Parker, who named the creek on their new homestead Little Silver Creek after their father’s estate in Rhode Island.
