Anne B. Moore, who has served as Hopewell Township deputy clerk, was transferred to the new position of municipal housing liaison on Monday.   "This is the first time a full-time paid position" has been devoted specifically to affordable housing, she said of her new post where she will be paid $50,500.   "I'll be doing the nuts and bolts work," Ms. Moore noted.   She said James McManimon, director of planning and community development, also is involved since his office deals with planning, zoning, construction, land use, open space and affordable housing.   To allow for the creation of Ms. Moore's new post, the Township Committee amended the Salary and Wage Plan for 2007 by adding the classification, "municipal housing liaison." State Gives Approval for Capital Health System Move to Hopewell  Capital Health System (CHS) gained approval from the state to relocate most of its Mercer Medical Center campus from Trenton to Hopewell Township. The state approval is contingent upon several conditions, including CHS maintaining a satellite emergency room at the site on Bellevue Avenue in Trenton for three years. The hospital originally planned to move to Princess Road in Lawrence, but decided on the larger site in Hopewell because it offers more space and flexibility for expansion. CHS officials will soon begin seeking the needed approvals from Hopewell Township to build on a 165- acre parcel of land, which is east of Scotch Road and North I-95. The land is owned by Merrill Lynch and is already zoned for hospital use. U...

Public hearing and adoption vote set for June 11 meeting    A proposed $19,149,693 municipal budget for 2007 was unanimously introduced by the full Hopewell Township Committee Monday night.   The proposed budget, up $82,828 from last year, is scheduled for a public hearing and adoption vote at the June 11 committee meeting.   Township officials said the proposed spending plan includes no major changes to township government. If adopted in its present form, the budget would yield a municipal tax rate increase of 1 cent per $100 of assessed property value, to 25 cents.\   This 2-cent slash coupled with a 1-cent increase in the proposed municipal spending plan translates to a net 1-cent reduction.   For a home assessed at $549,400, the township average, an overall municipal tax rate reduct...

Hopewell Township Preserves Foster Farm  On April 23, Hopewell Township Committee passed an ordinance allowing for the preservation of 48 acres off Woosamonsa Road in Hopewell Township as farmland. Under the ordinance, the township and state must equally split the cost of purchasing an agricultural easement for 48 of the 52 acres of property owned by Tom and Mary Foster. The easement will allow the Fosters to retain ownership of the 48 acres on the condition that it only be used as farmland. The easement would be permanent, meaning the same condition would apply to any purchaser of the property. The Fosters' home is on the 4 acres of the 52-acre tract not earmarked for the agricultural easement

Spring Time in Hopewell Boro, altho it is slightly chilly today and snow flurries are outside my window.Oh well, time to go feed the horses and change to go show some properties.  Better take the Hemi.Seriously, folks, unless you personally experience it of live in close proximity to it, you can't justify writing about it just to get points and the locals don't take kindly to "out of towner's" taking their thunder.Photo courtesy of Hopewell Boro Web Site.  http://www.hopewellboro-nj.us/cms/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Hopewell Boro Train Station in WinterHopewell Boro is something out of Norman Rockwell.  It is a place where there are town parades including Memorial Day with floats and bands, the residents line the streets with chairs and watch the children with decorated bikes.  On Halloween Children, Parents and dogs line up at the train station and parade over to the firehouse.  At Christmas there is a town tree lighting, with carrols and hot chocolate, and Santa delivers gifts from the firetruck.   I have fallen in love with Hopewell and I know you will too.  If you are interested contact me at coshea@nationsrealtors.com or visit our web sites:  www.nationsrealtors.com to visit the mls for listings including Hopewell. To quote the boro web site:  Designated a "village center," Hopewell Borough is ...
