Energy Star ® is a program that was first developed in 1992 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a method to identify and promote products that are energy efficient. Since its initial onset, the government has partnered with other industry members, to promote and expand the scope of this project to include, not only major appliances, but also new homes and buildings.Even if you are having a new home built look for the energy star logo which could mean that your energy costs should be 30% lower than a comparable home without the features that result in the rating. How about an older home.   There are two possibilities here.  One: Conduct your own home energy audit with the help of the rating yard stick found at http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=home_energy_yar...
