It's still time to join Fort Dix and the nation in observance of Independence Day on Sunday July 4th with fun, fireworks and entertainment at Doughboy Field. The event, 6 to 11 p.m., is open to the public. The festivities kick off at 6pm and be prepared to be entertained by radio station Power 99 on-air personality; the up and coming singer Anthony Hall, the Silver Wings and R&B artist, Keyshia Cole.A spectacular fireworks display begins around 9:30 p.m.To enter the installation for the event photo identification will be required for all adults and children over the age of 12.As a result of installations post-911 security requirements, no picnic baskets or coolers will be permitted, but blankets and chairs will be allowed.  Vendors will be on site providing food and refreshments availab...

All Gave Some.....Some Gave All As a former Navy Reservist, I personally know the sacrifices of today's reservists. No longer is the reserves a one weekend a month, two weeks a year gig.  Today's reservists are serving alongside America's active duty soldiers in some of the most dangerous places in the world.  Maj. Dwayne M. Kelley a 1978 graduate of Kennedy High School in Willingboro and more recently a resident of South Orange, was killed in action during his third tour of duty by an explosion in Sadr City, Iraq, in June.  Maj. On July 4, Fort Dix will host a nighttime celebration starting at 6 p.m. on Doughboy Field.The evening's entertainment will include an aerial parachuting demonstration by the Army Silver Wings Parachute Team of Fort Benning, Ga. and country music star Craig Morgan. The 307th Army Rock Show Band, will also perform, and at 9:30 p.m., a fireworks display will start.The display is the largest in South Jersey, and has been a part of Fort Dix tradition since 1944.Parking will be reserved for vehicles with the proper decals, but shuttle buses will be provided for those who do not have decals.
