Let me share photos involving water and some inspirational thoughts for the weekend.                                     Let the child in you play!                     Leaders see not only the destination but also the goal.            Spend your time and your thoughts on those things that matter most.           If you have trouble seeing clearly, relax and enjoy the view where you are.            Life is a journey not a race, if you move too fast you'll miss a lot.                                Listen to Nature and our troubles diminish                Begin each day with an open mind and end it with a full heart.       The mind needs its rests, retreats, and places to go to be away from the world.                    The Best way to show our gratitude for life is by enjoying it.    ...

White Mountain Post & Ski Times………March 2009 ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Staff Reporter: Steve Loynd…A/K/A..The Skiing Realtor.     Tuesday Ski and Mardi Gras Tree; Loon mountain /Lincoln NH. The locals have found a way to express the spirit of New Orleans, in the White mountains of New Hampshire. I checked with the staff at the Bunyan Room, (slope side ski lounge serving adult beverages), and it seems a few years ago a Marti Gras Theme party got a little out of hand and some brief nudity occurred which was rewarded  with beads. The event was forbidden since that March night of a few years ago. But in an homage to the Fat Tuesday, beads and bearing of the female patrons anatomy. A tree along the North peak chair has been ...

My Readers hopefully know me by now and know I enjoy the place I live. The Valley Between Loon and Cannon Mountains holds more than snow for me. My family lives the recreational lifestyle the area lends it self to. We Kayak in the spring, Golf in the summer, hike in the fall, and ski in the winter. And we do the touristy stuff..because it's still fun for us. We were at Clark's trading post once, and we took the train ride. Those that have been will tell you there is a Wolf-man that chases the train. You see our little trip crosses near Wolfy's Ore claim. He Yells at the train as it passes, and the conductor instructs the passengers to ..yell back scram you old goat. When my son was small he was afraid of the Wolf-man, but since we live near this attraction. We run into Wolfy (out of Cos...

The views from the lifts are as enjoyable as the skiing itself. Camp three..best spot for red stripe and reggae music. A blue sky day, on the slopes. the Gondola is a great way to ride. Looking across at the Sunset trail, off North peak. Cool place for family fun..Time on the lfits and in the car, are some of my favorite moments with my son. Once we get to the Slopes, he heads for the woods, and I stick to the groomed trails. But we meet at the lift and rehash the day on the ride home..before the texting starts. Looking for a slope side ski house or homesite for a future custome home call me. Your Skiing Realtor, and White Mountain Expert: Steve Loynd steve@alpinelakes.com / www.alpinelakes.com

After 30 years of planning the goals are within reach. When the Franconia paper mill closed its doors back in the 1970’s The town of Lincoln resembled a ghost town of the old west.  The Abandoned Mill buildings, and new restaurant built from the old timbers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 But the town had a few things going for it; Sherman Adams A former Governor and Eisenhower’s right hand man had started a ski resort and it was taking hold. Loon Mountain was big Mountain Skiing for a family from the Boston Suburbs and you could get here by car quickly. Machine Room #1..and the temporary North Country Center for...

Nothing shows a project's success like a sell out, and new Phases needed!! Phase I & II slope side homes are all sold, and rough roads are started for Phase III These premiere elevation sites, abut national forest and the South Mountain trails at Loon. * Note* the area adjacent to the Connector lift shown as a cul-de-sac, are 22 ski home sites. Home site #37 is currently the closest location to the lift, The black line indicates national forest land boundary (phase III..is under the words "connector lift"). Existing home shown below has a nice view, phase III will have spectacular Mountain views, plus walk to the lodge. The New South Peak Resort sign is easy to find in the center of Lincoln New Hampshire, only a mile from interstate 93 and about two hours from Boston. This is the perf...

You have had a property listed for several months and the seller is asking what can we do to get this property sold? The subject property is a vacant home site at a ski resort, with ski home access. The issue at hand is this, our buyer is more than likely a second home or vacation property purchaser. If you think the primary home market is slow, let me tell you the vacation industry is slower. This is an adjacent completed home in the same subdivision, which recently sold for $860,000. Creative opportunity in a slow market - owner financing at a preferred rate and attractive terms; #1 we reduced the asking price $85,000 #2 Seller is willing to accept a 20% down owner financed first mortgage. #3 the terms will include a three year balloon. #4 a fixed rate of 6% is being offered for the h...

I attended a recent homeowners event at Loon Mountain Resort, I really expected the same old wine and cheese thing. I was so pleasantly surprised by the turn out and the spirit of this great group of people. The other thing that really surprised me was the Children had a ball, these things can be boring for anyone under 21 traditionally. First Came..the Dog-sledding..what a hit The Cross country trail that runs along the Pemigewasset river was transformed for the day to Nanook of the Norths Dogsled run..Three teams were used to give nearly 100 willing participants the unique thrill of this ride powered by man's best friend. Training for the cold begins at a young age, the kids just wanted to play with the puppies which made for a great distraction while waiting their turn on the sled (a...

The White Mountain got a Fresh Foot or two of snow on Wednesday And this allowed Loon Mountain to enhance their already great conditions First Time Open: Undercut & the Glades @ South Mt.     Don’t believe the press release on Loon’s First Double Back Diamond Rip Saw <> <>.. Maybe on another day it’s too easy to be a 2XDiamond. With Nearly Two Feet, and ungroomed..It was Snorkel time.      Second Run was Cottage Cheese, With Fluffy Tops, light smooth and fun!    It was A Double Black Diamond Today..trust Me.     Escape route no one had skied it when I took it at Noon! This trail requires you to have a car in the South Mountain Bridge lot, because There is no lift back from here. So Cool to ski to town and several condo complexes.     Today was no picnic for my old legs, but boy was it...

After a while we begin to realize everything in life depends on our view One need not travel far to find peace, it's something we carry within. Glover Brook, Spills from the National Forest land into the Pemigewasset wilderness. Take Life's Scenic Route, you'll stay on the road a little longer but isn't that the point? Tranquility can't be found on a map it can only be experienced when allowed to be. My Official Blog Sign in Name is "Mountainwater"..Where do you think I came up with that? When you live in the White Mountains, and these are the scenes you see everyday do you begin to take them for granted? I think every climb whether difficult or easy in life is always worth the view. All of the shots are from properties listed or sold this past year (some still available). Steve@alpinel...

We are working on several condominium and single family home sites that front on the Pemigewasset River and have access to Loon Mt. Here is an example of the a Riverside Terrace Kitchen, granite counter-tops Stainless steal appliances, cherry cabinets and beautifully tiled floors. The recent snow fall and sub-zero tempratures are comspiring to feeze the river solid..but that would happen. This moving water will keep that from happening. The single family homes have an Adirondack theme, and are decidedly more Mountain Chalet in apperance and feel. Both condo or home offer access to the ski slopes and either direct riverfrontage or access to homeowners trails along the water. Ski home to your home or condo from here or enjoy the view and take the shuttle from the base lodge. I'm ready for...
