There is something for every one...Athletes will be inspired by the "reach the beach relay".   The 200 mile Race from Franconia Notch to Hampton beach, has been billed as the longest relay in the United States (Friday am start). Approximately 5,000 people will be involved in the race...consisting of 400 teams. The race will last between 20-30 hours and teams of 6 to 12 members will run this relay through 31 towns in route to the sea. I have been doing this type of post a lot lately, but it's fall and it's absolutely beautiful in Northern New England this time of year. So I live in Woodstock New Hampshire, which is an hour north of the State Capital in Concord and just far enough away from most of the politicians and Massachusetts boarder jumpers to be considered life in the North country. Silent Sunday Scene...a quiet White Mountain Morning. One of the highest roads in the North East allows traveler to go over Kancamagus pass between Lincoln New Hampshire and North Conway. For a span of 32 miles you will see nothing but beautiful vistas and meandering rivers. No Gas, no Food, no nothing, but wilderness. Many hiking trails , swimming holes and the occasional Moose...but no phone poles or hotels for close to an hour between towns.   Great News for the South Peak Resort property owners group (and people that would like to become part of the slope side development).   In a letter dated August 21st, the Vice President of Terramesa Resorts (Todd White) has announced the completion of the financial restructuring with their lending partners. This news will allow the South Peak Resort at Loon Mountain in Lincoln New Hampshire to move forward with development plans. While no exact dates were mentioned in the memo, the over all plans call for a private ski lift to access the existing trails at Loon Mountain Ski Resort. This is a fundraiser party for the "No Kill" Lancaster Humane Society...Local blues-band Northbound will be playing. A $15 donation includes entertainment & dinner buffet.... For years Steve Martin & Mary Ann Walters ran this annual Fundraiser at there home, and raised a lot of money for the Lancaster Humane society. I spoke to Steve, a few nights ago and he admitted the commitment was as strong as ever but the change of venue was a big relief for his family. It took a full week prior to the event each fall and close to a week after each fundraiser to clean up. Tony' Italian Grill is a great place for the event, it has the facilities and already attracts the same local crowd that attends this event each year. Just this week a fire was averted purely by luck...landlords read this story *PLEASE*. There are a few positive things about all this rain the rivers are great for kayaking, and of course the plants and golf courses are getting all they need from nature. Here are a couple of picture I shot in the last few days...of my two favorite places the golf course and my own back yard. Watching people kayak while you're playing golf...is rather relaxing. The Boys have set up camp on our river property...far enough away from the house so we can't see them. One of the local swimming holes on the Pemigewasset river, and adjacent to a home site I have for sale.
