Texas State Capitol Information Series of the Grand State of Texas, folks let tell ya, the Texas State Capitol sure is mighty fine looking!   Folks the Texas Capitol was completed in 1888 and has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.   The Capitol Complex is  located in downtown Austin, Texas.   Folks the first time I visited the Texas State Capitol was back in the early 60's when I was a youngin. I sure do still remember and feel that awsome feeling of pride to have had that opportunity. Texas State Flower Information Series of the Grand State of Texas, folks the State Flower of the Grand State of Texas is the mighty fine Bluebonnet (Lupinus).   Folks the Texas State Flower is named for its color and it is said , the resemblance of its petal to a woman's sunbonnet. It blooms in the early spring and can be readily found along highways and fields throughout Central and South Texas.   The Bluebonnet was adopted as the official State Flower by the Texas Legislature in the year of 1901.   Fall is the time to plant Bluebonnets and other wildflowers in Texas. It is said it is best to cast the seed and rake into the soil. This seed will lie until enough moisture and cool temperatures stimulate and germinate the seed. Texas State Bird Information Series the Grand State of Texas, folks the Texas State Bird is the Mockingbird. The Mockingbird sure love's the Redbud Tree.   If you have always lived in Texas then you sure know the Mockingbird by his song. The Mockingbird at times will swoop down and peck at you or your puppy dog. The mockingbirds sure are very protective of their nest and environment.   For folks which might not know the Mockingbird, here’s how to recognize the Mockingbird; The mimus polyglottos, as the mockingbird is known scientifically. Texas State Tree and Nut Information Series the Grand State of Texas, folks the Texas State Tree is the Pecan Tree and the mighty fine Nut which it offers is the State Texas State Nut.   Folks the pecan is native to about 150 counties and capable of growing and producing in all Texas counties. The mature pecan tree is usually 70-100 feet in height, but can grow as tall as 150 ft. Some trees can be as old as 130-150 years. Texas State Fish is the Guadalupe Bass Information Series of Texas, the Guadalupe Bass sure is a mighty fine fish and its the Texas State Fish, Guadalupe Bass sure is a waiting to see if you are any good at fishing, or if you are all talk.   The male Guadalupe bass builds a gravel nest in shallow water and spawns there. Once the female lays her eggs (up to 10,000), he chases her away and guards the nest throughout the incubation period. Fishing Knot Palomar Knot Part One of Three New Hampshire, folks this here is my favorite knot. I use this here fishing knot for just about all applications. The Palomar Knot is another very simple knot for terminal tackle.     It is regarded by the International Game Fish Association consistently as the strongest knot known. It's great virtue is that it sure can safely be tied at night with a minimum of practice.   Directions: Double about 6 inches of line, and pass through the eye.     Tie a simple Overhand Knot in the doubled line, letting the hook hang loose. Fishing Knot Hangman's Knot Part Two New Hampshire, folks there are at least 6 variations of the Hangman's Knot, which all of them sure are excellent for terminal tackle, swivels and hooks. The "standard" Hangman's Knot holds only five turns when tied in monofilament line.   But folks if its tied in rope, and used for its stated purpose, it takes eight turns.   Directions: Pass a 8 inch loop of line through the eye.   Bring the end back on itself, passing it under the doubled part.   Make five loops over the doubled part.   The formed knot is worked into shape.   The knot is sent down the line, against the eye of the hook or swivel.   Below is a link to take you to part three.
