I came up with this yesterday and I have yet to ask Timmothy if I could use his characters, Titus & Philemon, so if you don't like what I did please do not hold it against the author of the Titus & Philemon comic strip... it's not his work. This is NOT a political statement. In my office you are free to mask if you want to and free not to if you do not wish to. My personal default is NOT to mask but if anyone entering my office requests that I do while they are here their request WILL be granted.

With the Great Plains States our predominate winds are from the Northwest but they can blow straight down from the North pole or straight up from the Gulf of Mexico as well. In the Fall of the year we never know what we are going to get. On Monday we set a record high for the day, 104 degrees and yesterday was around 88. Take a look at the high temps for rest of the week coming up.60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, & 104 all in one week.

A challenge has been put forth by Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist  to write a book review for all to read on the ActiveRain website. To read more about the challenge and see the many entries CLICK HERE.This would be a nearly impossible task for me as the only book I’ve read in the last 20+ years is the Bible. Of course the Bible is composed of 66 books and I could just choose one of the 66 to do my review on BUT I’m not about to give a review/opinion on the inerrant word of God (I do highly recommend the Bible if you are not familiar with it). When I think about it I have read a couple other books… technical manuals for electronics and programs. NOT fascinating but believe it or not I prefer them over most current authors.I could also write a review on one or both of my son...

If you have ever strolled along the walking path of Minot's Oak Park you surely have seen the story boards along the way.  The story boards are maintained by The Minot Public Library and typically have a pictorial story by Dr. Seuss or another popular artist. The storyboards have been in place for many years and well maintained. They have never featured a local author/illustrator... until NOW! Timmothy N. Timm, Author of two comic strip books, will be the first with his art being installed this week on the Oak Park story boards. Timmoth's books are about two guinea pigs, Titus and Philemon (fi-lee-man), and their owner Joe. Timmothy created individual panels for this special project as opposed to using the strips in his two published books. Here are some samples.

The best recipe I know for summer fun and enjoyment is The North Dakota State Fair which starts tomorrow, Friday July 23rd 2021.The North Dakota State Fair serves up a great appitizer that lasts all of Saturday morning with the North Dakota State Fair Parade. Each year the number of entries grows but it's usually around 200 entries.I may not know the specific ingredients in the fair food I do know there are treats that delight my taste buds. While the carnival rides are no longer a key ingedient to my summer fun it is obvious from the long lines at each of them that they are a key ingredient to many.So what are the key ingredients that keep me coming back for more every year? I love the crowds during the hottest time of year. I love the free stages (like the band pictured below), the com...

Every drop of rain is a jewel this year in the State of North Dakota as much of the State is in the highest drought catagory given by the National Weather Service. However these drops actually looked like jewels after a recent sprinkle. You may recognize the plant that used to be in my office.

Like most cities, big and small, Minot is always doing little things to create tourist photo ops hoping those photos will end up on social media. Well we (the Timm family) took the bait with the new "Magic Minot" sculpture at the end of Main Street and here it is on social media. Two out of Three stands for the members of my family that I love. Tina is in Japan for two weeks with her Guard unit. You notice Carol is wearing a jacket, that was a week ago, over the last two days we have set record high temps in the 90's.

I have had amazing luck with my Google for business page (a free service) receiving about 500 views a week so I decided to set one up for my son Timmothy's art gallery. It seemed like a piece of cake when I set mine up but for some reason or another this one has been a royal pain in the ass. Here is what it looks like so far:I have not been able to post the text about the gallery and comic strip I've uploaded, that's what kills me. I will get it figured out so that is not what I'm asking you for help with today. What we (Timmothy and I) need help with is that if you Google search "Titus and Philemon" he doesn't even show up. Not even on page 8! If you search "Titus and Philemon Art" he shows up in 5th place after some nice articles written about him.If you could help us out and do a sear...

Pretty easy trivia but just in case you need a hint hereis a video to help you out.Roosevelt Park has a lot to offer and it holds a lot of good memories for me personally. First I will do my best to discribe all that Roosevelt Park offers.Let's start at the South entrance because it's where I enter most often (my house is just a block away). When you enter the parking lot The Roosevelt Park Zoo is right there and they share the same parking lot.You have several choices to make as soon as you step out of your car. You can head to the Zoo, relax under a beautiful gazeebo, or on the bridge over the pond, or on one of the benches overlooking the pond. Also, right at the enterance is the North Dakota Medal of Honor Memorial. The park is a beautiful place for the whole family to walk, picnic, ...

Minot's Downtown is Pretty Uptown!I'm sure there are a million reasons as to why Minot's downtown is as vibrant as it has been for years but all indicators are showing that this summer may be its biggest growth year since it's inception 135 years ago.Maybe it's the clever marketing through Visit Minot or maybe it's the popularity brought on by the new trendy restaurants and shops like The Titus & Philemon Art Gallery. Maybe it even has something to do with shops and services like Ward County Notary Service who give YOU the freedom to choose if you want to mask or not mask. The last two times I've been to the mall (twice in 3 months) I came away with two major impressions... 1) How dead the mall was... 2) How many vacant store fronts there were.Don't misunderstand, I do not take pleasure ...

Minot ND is a city of constant change. While our population has remained faily stable by the numbers (aside from the oil boom and the flood of 2011) we do see a larger than average number of people come and go every year due to our association with the Minot Air Force Base. The population of the MAFB varies from 5,500 to over 7,000 and when you consider troops (men and women) often get reassigned every 3 years that is a lot of people coming and going. It may seem silly to locals that I am going to tell you about Oak Park, Minot ND's largest and most popular park, but as someone who deals with newly relocated troops every day I know some of these young men, women, and families have no clue what is available in Minot.Oak Park is Minot's largest and most popular park. It offers some great w...

When it comes to signs of Spring on the North Coast you take what you can get. Here are three signs I saw this week.Carol received this buld for Christmas. We followed directions and nothing appeared to be happening for about 6 weeks. Then BOOM! It grow at a rate of about 2 inches a day until it reached 24". This week it fully bloomed.Cattle on the road means that they are not cooped up in the barn or in a feed area. It also means they are going to find a path to the "greener grass" on the other side of the fence. I encountered this bag of beef on my way home from an assignment yesterday.Last of all the Boys of Summer made their first appearance across the street from my home at historic Corbett Field. It was just a practice but it was great to see them. Before the artificial turf was i...

If you saw the bombers fly over the Super Bowl then you saw a piece of Minot North Dakota fly overhead. The B52 you saw came from Minot, one of two of the nations B52 bases. Minot hosts two of the nuclear triad legs with the B52's and a nuclear missle base.  We are very proud of our base and personel here in Minot. These are some of the finest young men and women you can possibily meet. One of the B52 pilots is a personal friend and because of that friendship I've meet several of the B52 pilots (there are not many people qualified to fly that big bird).Hope you enjoyed the fly over and think of Minot ND next time you see one of those big biys fly overhead.

To date we (North Dakota) have had the warmest winter on record... until now. The Arctic BLAST has hit us and is predicted to last at least a week. I woke up this morning to -17 degrees and a 20 mile per hour wind. That gives us a wind chill factor of about -45 degrees.YES that IS cold! However one can easily dress for it whereas one can not undress enough for 100 degree weather that lasts weeks or months. There is also that famous saying: "30 below keeps the riff-raff out". There is a lot of truth to that saying as proven by the fact that we are one of the "reddest" States in the nation 😉.

Jack "Flocking" Frost was on it last night. No one flocks like Jack Frost!  We have had two nights in a row of heavy fog. Jack loves those working conditions and it shows. This morning I had a job about 20 miles out of town and I knew I needed to bring my camera so I could show the world what a good flocker Jack Frost is.

Yes, I am using the proper "Buy" in this case.In my post immediately prior to this one I had let you know about Timmothy's book signing today and tomorrow but I forgot that many people reading the post may not have a clue as to what books I was talking about. My son, Timmothy N. Timm, is a 19 year old published Author, Illustrator. Most of Timmothy's work is his comic strip about two guinea pigs named Titus & Philemon and their lives with Joe, their friend and owner. Each book is 50 pages of comic strips and we are sitting on enough material to publish at least another six books. Titus and Philemon is also published daily In the Minot Daily News.Timmothy and I office together at 201 Main Street South in the heart of Minot ND's business district. I have my area where I work as a Notary Pub...

Is an unknown monument Monumental? The Minot Daily News puts out a yearly publication that highlights local towns and one thing interesting about them. It's not real often I spot something new in it from year to year but I don't remember seeing this article so it really peaked my interest. I hope you can read what it says in the picture above but if you can not the main point is that this monument was dedicated back in 1925. As you can see it looks as if it's new yet today. That's the beauty of granite.

Drastic times call for drastic measures.  The key word here is drastic. We have all learned in the last year how important it is to protect our health and we all have been taking measures we would have thought were drastic in January of this year. The measures that many of us are taking are to protect our physical health. The measure I am taking these days is to protect my mental health.  The current pandemic is effecting everyone mentally one way or another and for one reason or another. Believe it or not the problem it is causing me is TOO MUCH BUSINESS! I retired from Real Estate two years ago in an effort to slow down and enjoy life. My choice of semi-retirement occupations is to be a Notary Public/Signing Agent. I have been a licensed Notary Public for about 20 years and I enjoyed ...
