Spent the good part of today with a new MEDICAL RESIDENTS  coming to ECU- Vidant / Brody School of Medicine.This time of year the upcoming residents have been selected and are headed into town to buy a home, townhouse, or condo for their relocation to Greenville NC.  Today I had the pleasure of working with an emergency medicine resident who drove all night to get to town so he could secure housing before the rush began ! We looked at a handful of properties and made a selection ! I love having clients this time of year buying or selling their home here in Eastern NC. The holidays tend to be a bit slower and I often correlate that with the time change. I also think homes tend to be decorated and personalized a bit more this time of year as well.....but, I also know the competition is low this time of year. This to me is a great time to sell..or buy. For sellers the buyers that come through are more serious and you have less competition meaning your odds for a sale is increased.For buyers you will find that the motivated sellers are on the market. The Camellia is a great flowering bush that offers a few petal colors...and a lovely bloom similar to a rose !I love this hardy plant/tree as it does well with very , very little care. The dark green foliage is great for arrangements as well. I would note that the deer love the taste of these so if you are in a location where deer roam , use a chicken wire or organic protection to deter them from munching from the ground up ! I once drove up into our driveway at our beach house and found our trees in full bloom, typically from top to ground..but this time it was eaten 25% way up ! This is a great bloom to pull from base and float in a dish with a few buds and blossoms or to snip and collect with greenery for a casual arrangement in the home.  Very subtle scent and typically bug free. Th... 12/07/2016

As a Greenville NC resident Ive been able to witness not one 100+Yr Flood but TWO.  Floyd in 1999 was a catastrophic event that caught Eastern NC off guard. This event did teach important lessons to first responders, home owners, businesses, and government officials of how to prepare for any such event in the future...which occurred last week as the Tar River crested 12+ feet over flood level.As the waters start receding this week it is important to continue the outreach that was witnessed during the crisis. There are still many returning home to devastation and ruin. The schools are still trying to open. Greenville NC is proud to show off the newly wrapped Recycle Trucks displayed with this years winners of the Keep The Green in Greenville Art Contest. Last year the City of Greenville Public Works Department started a contest to involve school children in recycling in the schools. Wow, it has been a wide open busy week here in Eastern NC. As much as I love the thrill of selling homes, I can find myself working long hours.        Today, well tonight at dinner time, I took the dogs out as I got home.My loyal and beautiful cardinal ( the one I claim as my personal pet) was in the trees serenading me as I walked the yard with the dogs....and then , as to tell me to take a break and enjoy the moment, he flew to my rooftop to sing for me !!!
