The choices we make about housing. We are confronted by all sorts of information about the housing market.  It 's going down, it's coming back, it's never coming back, it going to be a "renter's world" from now on, etc. I'm not sure what the future will hold for housing but I believe it is the cornerstone for a satisfying and stable personal life. Denise and I live in a small home on the edge of the Trent River near Pollocksville, NC. The Trent River winds and twists thru the farm lands and forest of Jones and Craven counties on it's way to the much bigger Neuse River in New Bern. For the SECOND time in sixteen days we have snow falling in the New Bern, NC area.  As I write this at the kitchen table, I'm looking out the sliding door towards the Trent River, in Jones County and see snow quickly painting our summer play ground white. Sometimes we go 2 or 3 years with NO SNOW! Just a few months ago I was cutting green grass and watching all the little animals getting ready for Winter.  Today all the trees are bare and their nests are covered with snow. I saw some duck hunters going up the river about 5 am. this morning and they are still out there. I saw 5 ducks just go by and heard the guns go off.  By the way, I saw five ducks come back by.... flying much faster. Citizens of Jones County have another reason to make a move and buy know. As of March 05, 2008 the new limits for a single family residence in Jones County, N.C. has been increased to $271,050.00 .  The former maximum was $200,160.00. This is over a 35% increase from older caps and should make many more homes available for FHA mortgages. Jones County has three major towns with the county seat located in Trenton.  The other towns are Pollocksville and Maysville. Jones County, while mostly rural will experience growth in the coming years.  U.S. Highway 17  is still mainly two- laned in  Jones County while 4 lane work has already occurred in Onslow County south towards Jacksonville and north in Craven County towards New Bern.  Change is coming.  It's a great time to invest in Jones County.... 03/18/2008
