Yes, it can snow along the Eastern NC shoreline.. not often but oddly enough this is the third snow fall in a month!  Nothing in comparison to the northern states but this morning I measured 6" from my porch in Morehead City NC .. Just enough to build a snowman, snowball fights, sled/ tubing...  Heres my bulldog Jack.. enjoying the winter white ...   Snow covered treeline with blue skies reflecting on the water ...   Although this will be gone most likely later today, its kinda fun to experience it once in a while.. (... once in a while being the operative part of that comment!! ) Stay warm, enjoy your Sunday !   Michele Connors, Realtor Coldwell Banker First Realty  Morehead City NC

YeeHaw...The Bellamy Brothers Are Coming to the Crystal Coast!   On February 4th, 2011, Country Music Stars, The Bellamy Brothers, will be performing at the Morehead City Center of Performing Arts!  They are most known for hits like, "Let Your Love Shine", "If I said you had a Beautiful Body" and  "Redneck Girl", and let me tell you...These guys have still got it!  I had the pleasure of seeing the Bellamy Brothers perform at a Country Jam in Naples, Florida a few years ago, and the crowd went wild!     The cost is $35 for VIP Reserved Seating and $30 for general seating.  This show will sell out, so Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged if you want to see the show.  I highly recommend getting out your boots, preparing to kick up your heels and reserving your seats right now!   Carlone's Pizza, Subs & More on the Morehead City Waterfront   My family and I spend a lot of time on the Morehead City Waterfront.  We enjoy just walking up and down the boardwalk, admiring the views and the boats.  We also love stopping in one of the many local shops downtown and we especially enjoy having lunch at Carlone's.  In our opinion, they have the best pizza in town, and I always enjoy a large, fresh salad while visiting Carlone's.     Tanner especially loves the fact that a slice is just about as big as he is...and free soda refills, of course!  The staff is always friendly, the prices are very fair, and the food is great.  Stop by and check them out the next time you are in the area.  They offer a nice selection of pizza, pastas, subs and salads.  They have fast service f...

Medical Park Pharmacy in Morehead City, North Carolina Let me take you back to my first week living on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina...I promise, I will try to make this long story as short & sweet as possible! My husband and I along with our 3 month old baby, moved to Morehead City, NC from Naples, Florida back in May of 2005.  If you have ever been to Naples, FL, you know there is a Walgreens/QVC/Rite-Aide on every corner.  Every grocery store also includes a pharmacy.  Nothing against Naples, Florida (we loved it there), but going to the pharmacy was nothing to write about.  No friendly smiles, no "good mornin'" as you entered the store...You were lucky if the employee even made eye contact with you...much less, actually spoke to you!   When we first arrived in Morehead City, w...

Morehead City Veteran's Day Parade   On November 6th, 2010 starting at 11:00 am, residence and visitors gather along the streets of Downtown Morehead City to honor our Veterans.   The Morehead City Veteran's Day Parade is a "Big" deal.  Morehead City was chosen as one of four regional areas in the state of North Carolina to host Veteran's Day Observances.  With Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point both calling Eastern North Carolina home, and the fact the the state of North Carolina has almost 800,000 Veterans living here...It's no wonder Morehead City was chosen as one of the best places to honor our veterans and we are proud to do just that by offering one of the Largest Veteran's Day Parades in the State.  Other North Carolina Cities chosen were Charlotte, Fayetteville & Warsaw.       Bring...

Going Green & Saving Green...Amy's Green Tip #3   I absolutely love books.  I love to read them (when time allows), I love the way they smell, I love the way they look on my bookshelves, I just love books.  I have always had a hard time getting rid of books...Until I found out about the The BookShop in Morehead City, North Carolina.  What does a book store have to do with going green?  Well, at The BookShop in Morehead City, you take your old books in and they give you credit for them.  Then, you can use your credit to buy new old books.  Read those, and keep them or take them back for more credit, and the cycle continues.  Even if you don't have any books to trade in for credit, you can buy the books for next to nothing...I'm talking $CHEAP.  I buy a lot of books for Tanner for fifty c...

North Carolina Seafood Festival Every year, thousands of folks head to Morehead City, North Carolina for the NC Seafood Festival.  On October 1-3, 2010 along the Morehead City Waterfront, We will celebrate our 24th Annual Festival.  If you love seafood...this is a no brainer!  You can Sample just about every type of seafood imaginable and you  can buy even more from the vendors.  If you are like me and you don't eat seafood (I know, I know), there is still plenty to eat...And drink.  My personal favorite is Funnel Cake (Don't worry Roger Mucci, I will not eat too much).  You can also find pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, and an assortment of other "Junk" food to eat.       The whole family will love this festival!  Amusement rides, ship tours, sporting events (mom will be participating in...

Snapperz Grill & Steam Bar, Morehead City, NC 28557 I had the pleasure of attending a Women's Council of REALTORS social at Snapperz Grill & Steam Bar in Morehead City, NC. WOW...It was awesome! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was excellent.  A group of around thirty REALTORS, Mortgage Brokers and  Home Designers...not a single complaint from us!   Their mission at Snapperz is to provide you with consistent, quality food paralleled by un-matched service in a family fun environment.  I can tell you from my experience that the food was delicious, and the service was TOPS!  I will be taking my family to Snapperz often!      Our group stuck around for a couple of hours, hanging out enjoying the Never ending appetizers....Fried Green Beans (YUM), Shrimp Cocktail, Lightly B...

Shevan's Park in Morehead City...Not Your Average Park! Seriously, this place is like a dream park for kids...A "Sea of Dreams" to be exact.  Yesterday, I declared it "Tanner Day".  Tanner is my five year old baby (Who will be starting Kindergarten in less than 2 weeks). I dedicated the entire day for he and I to spend however he wanted.  First thing he chose to do was to have breakfast at his favorite 5 star restaurant...McDonald's.  I even allowed him the 16 oz. Dr. Pepper that normally he would never get.  Then he said he wanted to go to the park with all the castles, aka...Shevan's Park.   Tanner's daddy takes him to this park all the time, but I had never been.  WOW!!!!!!  I fell in love with the place.  It was AWESOME!                         Tanner gave me a tour of every inch ...

Kindergarten Begins for Carteret County Schools Wow, My baby is getting ready to start kindergarten.  Carteret County Schools begin August 25th, 2010 for 1st though 12th grades.  Kindergarten at Morehead City Primary School begins on September 1st.  On August 25th, the kindergarten teachers will start scheduling their home visits.  They will visit each student on their own turf....I like it.  Then the students will meet at school one day for just a couple of hours. This gives the kindergartners a chance to get to know the other kids, their teacher and their new surroundings.  On September 1st...Tears will start falling!  For those of you out there who are first timers to this whole kindergarten thing...Morehead City Primary School has a "Blue Mom Room"!  There is no doubt in my mind tha...

The Ruddy Duck Tavern in Morehead City, North Carolina The Ruddy Duck Tavern in Morehead City, North Carolina is a fabulous restaurant located on the Morehead City Waterfront.  The staff is awesome, the atmosphere is fun and welcoming, the views are gorgeous, the prices are very reasonable and the food is "To Die For".  They proudly serve Local Seafood and there are plenty of options for those who do not eat seafood.  I highly recommend the "Carolina Burger" or Fried Shrimp (or both), followed by a slice of Key Lime Pie... my sister would kill for their Fish Tacos!   The Ruddy Duck Tavern is also a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy an ice cold beer or glass of wine while chatting over a HUGE plate of Nachos and Wings at the bar.         If you eat too much, which isn't hard ...

Shop to Stop Domestic Violence, Caroline's Collectibles, Morehead City, North Carolina Okay Folks, this is a no brainer in my opinion.  Save the planet, save some money, clean out your closets and help stop Domestic Violence at the same time!    Caroline's Collectibles is a unique Thrift Store located at 3716 Arendell Street in Morehead City, North Carolina.  They have only two paid sales associates and several volunteers who man the shop.  They are always so friendly and helpful, and obviously believe in the cause they are supporting. Proceeds help benefit the Carteret County Domestic Violence Program.    Caroline's Collectibles is a great little shop, clean and neat, and full of treasures.  The clothing selection is wonderful and well organized.  They also carry shoes, dishes and smal...

52nd Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament...Day 4 Update! The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is starting to get a little tense for the last two days of fishing. With first and second place looking pretty solid the rest of the boats have some work to do. The most interesting thing is that most of the boats will be fishing the last two days. Only one boat is fished out, remember that you can only fish 4 out of 6 days. The Big Rock Tournament has been blessed with great weather that has helped all the boats get further out to the fish. There were 19 billfish releases today at Big Rock! The captains are starting to figure out where they are feeding and going. Some of the catches today included a 61.8 pound wahoo caught by the Big Hunter. The Marlin Gull had the hot hand with three billfish rele...

52nd Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament Update- Day 2 What a day it was on Monday! If you were living under a rock then you might not know about the record breaking Blue Marlin that was caught yesterday at The Big Rock tournament. The crew aboard the Citation out of Hatteras brought in the record breaking Blue Marlin weighing 883 lbs. The Citation made it to the dock around 7 p.m. on monday. Seems to me that everyone else is fishing for second and third place. This monster blue marlin gave the crew a first catch bonus check of $318,750. It was very exciting watching the weigh-in. I guessed the weight to be 595 lbs. as it was being hoisted up. I was watching via the web I must say and I probably would have guessed higher in person. Either way I would have been wrong, and I am glad I was. Th...

52nd Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament starts today June 14,2010 Today is the start of the best Blue Marlin tournament in the country as far as I am concered. The Big Rock Blue Marlin tournament started today in Morehead City, NC. This year the field has 156 boats competing for a large purse of $1,664,450. Who knew fishing could be so lucrative? This tournament isn't for the weak of heart or the weakest of pockets. You may be able to get a few guys together and scrape up the $18,000 entry fee, but getting the million dollar sportfish boat and thousands of dollars worth of rods and reels may be too large of a hurdle to jump. The payoff coud be huge though. Last year the crew of the Sea Creature captured the top spot with a small blue marlin weighing 466 pounds that earned them $746,820. Th...

Crystal Coast Half Marathon Saturday, February 27, 2010 8:00 AM Morehead City, NC       No, I will not be running in the Crystal Coast Half Marathon, but I will be there at 5:30 AM checking in the athletes...one of which is my mother!   The half Marathon starts out on the Morehead City Waterfront and loops around, over the Atlantic Beach Causeway, towards Fort Macon, then back around and over the bridge and ends back at the Morehead City Waterfront.  If the half Marathon is too much for you, you can also choose to participate in the 5k, or just show up as a spectator and cheer the athletes along.   If you are running in the Marathon, you will probably see me along the course too...I am a volunteer!  The United Way hosts this event every year as a fundraiser, The United Way helps sup...
