Almost everyday I drive north on Beatties Ford Rd towards Lake Norman and pass a beautiful pasture with cows grazing in the fields. There is also a quaint little country store where you can buy local produce. However, the country side is about to change dramatically! For 3 years JDH has been waiting for this moment. Here is a recent article from a local Lake Norman paper. The town's board of commissioners this week narrowly approved plans for a 120,000-square-foot commercial development despite citizen protests and opposition from the town staff. The Shops at Crossroads Village, which will be built on 23 acres near N.C. 73 and Beatties Ford Road, has become a political football since JDH Capital proposed it about three years ago. The commissioners' 3-2 vote will allow the Charlotte-based...

My wife and I recently got a chance to view Lake Norman from a whole new perspective...at sunset. We have been living in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte for more than 7 years and have only now seen it from this view. Of course we have been invited numerous times to go out on the lake. However, we have been preoccupied raising  our 5 yr old triplet boys. Well, the boys are in Florida with the grandparents so it allowed us a chance to check out the Lake. We are truly fortunate to have such a beautiful body of water to enjoy.       View all Lake Norman Waterfont Homes for sale Mike CarpinoOwner/Broker704 301-9264www.LakeAndTown.com

There is an interesting article in the Lake Norman Herald this week regarding Huntersville, NC. Forbes Magazine created a list of America's 25 Best Places to Move and Hunterville was named number two. Forbes looked at cities with populations of 25,000 or more and based the information on census data from 2000 to 2007. The top 25 cities all had the following in common: twice the income level, twice the home value and home size, twice the amount of people with college degrees and twice as many youth. The article also mentioned the strength of the Charlotte housing market as a possible contributing factor for Huntersville making the list. Another very interesting point was made regarding the overall aesthetic appeal these cities have. Tree-lined streets and small town feel seem to be an im...

My 5 yr old son Ryan has been fascinated lately with digging for worms in the back yard. So , I finally told him we could use those worms to catch fish. Well, we took our first fishing trip down the street to Lake Norman. There is a great park called Ramsey Creek that has a nice pier to fish off of. It took us a little time before we landed this big one but it was well worth the wait. You can tell by the smile on his face that not only is the fish hooked but so is Ryan on fishing. I am very fortunate to live in an area where I am only minutes from a beautiful lake to fish at. If you are ever fortunate enough to visit the Charlotte region take some time to drive out to Lake Norman. You will not be disappointed! .

Here is a recent update on the progress of the Discovery Place for Kids in downtown Huntersville, North Carolina: A local company hopes to build a tree house in the middle of downtown. Not some boards nailed to the truck of a tree, leading to more boards tacked together in the limbs above.Huntersville-based Power Play Inc. is working on probably the nicest tree house in town, a three-story structure that will greet kids and their parents as they enter the brand-new Discovery Place Kids museum in a little more than a year. That's just one of many local connections Discovery Place Kids Director Debbie Curry has established, she said this week. On its Web site, Power Play Inc. describes itself as "the world's largest, fully integrated manufacturer of commercial playground equipment, floatin...

Dryer Vent Cleaning is the number one defense against clothes dryer fires.  Out of sight, out of mind is the reason dryer vent cleaning is often overlooked, but you really cannot afford to ignore this chore.  Dryer lint screens only catch about 60-80 percent of the lint removed from laundry; the rest ends up trapped in the dryer exhaust system where it builds up and becomes a fire hazard.   Lint is highly flammable which makes it good fuel for a fire to spread throughout your dryer vent system and your home.  As your dryer is working moisture and lint are removed from your clothes.  The moist lint sticks to the sides of the dryer ducts and eventually builds up.  Over time this reduces airflow, the dryer works harder and the motor overheats.  This is a fire hazard and the cause of increa...

The landscape of downtown Huntersville, North Carolina will soon change. After months of negotiations I believe we will start to see the Dicovery Place of Kids come to fruition. Here is a recent article from a local Lake Norman paper to give you an update. The shadow of doubt cast upon the future of Huntersville's Town Center lifted somewhat after the town successfully completed the land swap and financing agreement for the downtown development. Questions remain, however, about private partner Norcom's intentions and the reason behind a last-minute, $250,000 check the town wrote to close the deal.  The town completed the land swap and financing agreement for construction of Town Center at the close of business Friday, May 22. By Tuesday of this week, bulldozers parked on the property, ...

Dryer vent cleaning; is it really that big of a deal?  Questions answered during recent interview with Emilie Benvegna, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard   Huntersville, NC - Emilie Benvegna is the owner/operator of Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte, NC.  During a recent interview, Emilie made it quite clear that dryer vent cleaning is important.   When asked, "Honestly, do I really need to concern myself with dryer vent cleaning?"  Emilie answered, "Yes!  The clothes dryer is one of the leading causes of house fires.  Failure to maintain the dryer exhaust system causes over 15,000 fires annually."   The next question was, "How often is dryer vent cleaning recommended?"  Emilie said, "Dryer vent cleaning is recommended at least once a year; more often if you have a large family or several pets, a...

This past weekend I had a chance to view homes in some of the most pristine golf course communities in the Lake Norman/Huntersville NC area. River Run, Birkdale and Northstone are three of the nicest Golf communities outside of Uptown Charlotte. The private NorthStone Country Club golf course and club facilities at NorthStone were developed by Mr. Rhein. NorthStone Club marks the third golf course environment created by Mr. Rhein - utilizing the talents of P.B. Dye as golf course architect. NorthStone Country Club is by far the best selling private golf club community in greater Charlotte. Mr. Rhein attributes this success, in part, to his many years of experience, but more so to a great team of employees and group of Preferred Builders who, together, have created in NorthStone Country ...
