If you are relocating or thinking about buying a home in Huntersville, NC and schools are an important factor in your decision you better do your homework. There is a lot of talk about changes to come for Huntersville and Davidson schools. Two of Charlotte Mecklenburgs best schools Torrence Creek Elementary and Davidson IB could face a possible closing and/or boundary changes. Plans to look at boundary changes for Torrence Creek Elementary students next year continue to move forward, despite assurances from school board member Rhonda Lennon that the school would be removed from the district's list of schools up for changes next school year. "We're moving forward until the board tells us not to," Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Planning Specialist Dennis LaCaria said.  The staff proposed m...

New Catholic High School Set to Open in Huntersville, NC. Christ the King Catholic high school could open in Huntersville next September. It would be only the second Catholic high school in the Charlotte area. St. Mark Catholic church in Huntersville has grown to 3,000 members.  St. Mark school is K through 8 and now many of the parents commute to Charlotte Catholic nearly an hour to and from for their high school kids. David Hains with the Catholic Diocese says the location in Huntersville would be temporary until they could build a bigger location on the other side of Huntersville. To start, the school would need at least 100 9th graders enrolled. Hains says "Charlotte Catholic high school is a great school, but it is a long way away from this end of the county." !Mike CarpinoMike@Lak...

Huntersville, NC plans should include more homes built based on the latest projections.Projected population growth in Huntersville over the next two decades would require more than 9,000 newly built homes within the town's bulging limits, planners predict.   Slightly less than half of those homes have already been approved but not yet built in fledgling subdivisions such as Skybrook and Vermillion, as well as Bryton, the mega-development just north of the I-485/N.C. 115 interchange.  What has the minds and pencils of Huntersville planners in motion, though, are the needed 4,700 new homes to provide for the anticipated population without a development to call home. People are still coming to this area and when they come, they're going to need a place to live.   While soon-to-be-released ...

Lake Norman area schools may see some big changes for 2011. Living in the Lake Norman area and beign a concerned parent I am always keeping a pulse on what is happening with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. As of now our boys attend Barnette Elementary School in Huntersville, NC, which we could not be any happier with. However, we could feel the ripple effects of what may occur next year with some of the local elementary school. Here is a recent excerpt from the local paper. Big changes for local schools?   Three northern Mecklenburg schools are among those that could see big changes - all for different reasons.Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools this week released a list of 32 schools that are candidates to be expanded, shrunk or shuttered. Among them:   • Huntersville's Alexander Mi...

I read the Active Rain article on how has Facebook worked for you? and started thinking about other lead marketing I use.  Facebook has been good for me because I get calls and emails from friends and acquaintance's for information on rentals and sales.  Most of the time it is in reference of they did not know I did real estate or was glad I still was in business in this economy.  The general census I get from outside people is they think all Realtors are broke and not working.  Facebook helps me show that I am an Active Realtor and still doing fine. My Main question is I use Trulia for about 2 months.  I bought part of my zip code for leads and had about 3 emails and one turned into a lead for a buy.  Seems pretty good in my mind but wanted to see if other people had better success or ...

The beauty of living in Charlotte, NC is that you have the ability to enjoy not only the beaches of North Carolina, but also the Blue Ridge mountains. This summer my family took our annual trip to the coast and stayed in beautiful Ocean Isles. It is a great family destination with a variety of rental accommodations to choose from. Last year we stayed in a home just off the beach that has a pool and was walking distance to the ocean. This year we stayed in a townhome with spectacular views of the ocean from our balcony. Ocean Isle Beach is only a 4 hr drive, and we plan to make it a family destination for many years. With the boys staying with Grandma and Poppie for a couple weeks it was now time for Mom and Dad to enjoy a quiet weekend in the beautiful North Carolina Mountains. My wife ...

Summer home sales in the Huntersville, NC area have been somewhat slow, but a few neighborhoods continue to stay strong. There have been over 30 closings for Birkdale, MacAulay, Stephens Grove and Gilead Ridge just in the months of June and July. I also believe there will be a "flurry"of activity in the coming weeks just because people are looking to get in before the start of school. I would highly recommend any of the above neighborhoods, as well as some others, for anyone moving to the area.  Check out links below to view all homes for sale in those subdivisions.
