Henderson County saw 135 Homes close during the month of April, keeping a close pace with March's 139 closings. Last year April saw only 96 homes close. This year has seen a significant rise in sales. Days on Market has fallen for the sixth month in a row, with April showing 170 days from Listing to an offer. The Median Sales Price has risen to $175,000, up $3000 from last month and up from $165,450 from last April. These numbers have slowly but steadily been on the rise as well. The List to Sell ratio, dropped to 93%, after seeing a four month steady climb. The ratio represents the amount of percentage of money the seller get from the sale of the home, compared to the last listing price. Henderson County Extension Office: Master Gardener Program I have used Extension Offices all over the country, wherever I lived, for many decades. They have assisted me in my diseased plants, showed me how to properly amend the soil, and they have taught me how to prevent poisoning myself and others in canning, just to name a few things.  I have been hearing about the Master Gardening program for years and have always wanted to go through the program. They take a certain number of people each year, educate them through weekly classes, and then these graduates volunteer in various capacities over the year. ATTENTION: Hendersonville citizens.  Earlier this week, the fire department issued a scam warning.  Recently, the department was made aware that someone has been calling Hendersonville residents claiming they are with the Hendersonville Fire Department and soliciting money on their behalf.  The fire department wants area residents to know that they do not actively solicit money.  They receive their funding from the City of Hendersonville's general fund. Chilly weather doesn't mean you always have to stay indoors.  How about a ride down Moonshine Mountain?  No...there's no actual "moonshine" involved, just pure, snow tubing joy.  You won't find skiers, snowboarders or even sledders there since only snow tubing is allowed on this Hendersonville mountain! Recycling has become a habit for many Hendersonville residents.  By recycling, we reduce the amount of waste that fills up the landfills as well as the amount of natural resources we use up in creating certain items, which reduces the strain on our environment.  The City has had a recycling program in place for its residents for a while now.  With its growing popularity, Hendersonville has now increased what it considers acceptable recyclables for curbside disposal.
