Charlotte, NC Real Estate News

I feel that all of us in the real estate business have been drenched by fear that the negative media spreads like wildfire. I want to point out that there is positive news that isn't getting as much press. For example, take worker productivity in the U.S. It jumped by 2.2 percent in the latest quarter - and that was on top of a 1.8 percent gain the quarter before. Why is that significant for real estate? Because rising productivity generally points to lower inflation, and lower inflation fears help keep interest rates low helping buyers! In addition, Charlotte, N.C., leads Relocate-America.com's annual ranking of the top 100 cities. Apparently, there's just something about North Carolina. For the second year in a row, America's best city in which to live lies within its borders, accordin...

In a recent BizJournal article, Charlotte North Carolina was ranked the 7th best city in the United States for young people.  The ranking was as a result of the many opportunities for young professionals, the high income available for young people and the high quality of life.  Being under 30 myself, I decided to give you my reasons why I think that Charlotte is a great city for Young Professionals. There's lot's to do.  In the winter, you want to toss your skis on top the car and head to the mountains.  In the summer, you want to take weekend trips to the beach.  Here in Charlotte, you can do that as you're about 3 hours away from both destinations.  In addition, there are lots of trails for riding, golf courses, disc golf, greenways, etc.  Charlotte is home to the National White Water...

Waiting on the Right Time to Buy a Home? How about finding the right home to buy now? Money Magazine punlished an article recently that echos what I have been saying for quite some time. Too many people are waiting for the perfect time to buy, thinking they can time the "bottom" of the market to get the best possible home. Yet even Money Magazine, one of the most trusted magazines about finances says this is not a wise move! Check out more about this article at Great Home or Great Timing Who knew I was as smart as those Money Magazine folks?    There is good news mixed with bad. The 12 month through March 2008 S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index report released yesterday showed national home values are still in a decline. The national average decline is 14%. The good news is Charlotte is one of the 20 urban metro market areas showing increases. The Charlotte metro market includes Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Lake Wylie and other outline areas or suburbs. Our home values in the area have shown modest growth in the last few years which maybe the reason for positive home value growth instead of decreases in todays economy. Charlotte area home prices rose less than one percent but at least it is on the plus side. More good new, home sales have increased slightly in the the northeast. So why is this good news for us southerners? Our area ...

S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices released today show Charlotte as the sole metro area to see 1Q home-price gains: Charlotte was the only U.S. metropolitan area to record a first-quarter gain in housing prices among the 20 markets tracked by Standard & Poor's and Case-Shiller. The year-over-year price of existing single-family homes in Charlotte rose 0.8% in the latest reported quarter, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. Nationally, first-quarter prices declined 14.1 percent from a year earlier in the cities the index tracks. The Queen City is the only market with appreciation over the past year, returning +0.8%. In March, half of the Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and both composites fell by more than 2% over February. Dallas and Charlotte were the only two M...
