A studied performed by Oregon based Rick Williams Consulting suggested that Bozeman Montana update its plans for managing parking in its downtown district. Parking demand has increased in Downtown Bozeman, the city’s historic district, due to new development and new visitor’s being attracted to the area.Bozeman will need to develop a strategy for parking along Main Street and the rest of downtown if it wants to keep the area a convenient place to eat, shop and find entertainment. As Bozeman grows, existing parking lots might be used for infill development. A precedent has already been set in Midtown Bozeman to favor commercial and residential real estate development over maintaining parking spaces. Bozeman Commissioners approved allowing businesses to reduce parking in Midtown, if they i...

Montana State University architecture students helped survey Bozeman’s historic district and Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District, inputting and updating the city’s historic homes in the area.  Students looked at over 500 homes and structures nearby campus and then logged their findings to help Bozeman determine what changes, if any, they will make to Bozeman’s historic district regulations.Currently, the historic district and the Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District both require residents to file for certificates of appropriateness when renovating their home, particularly its exterior. Rising home prices, a booming economy and bureaucratic slow down have lead City Commissioners to OK plans to revise the regulations. In order for Bozeman officials to improve its historic dist...

City commissioners approved a new 5 story building to be built on Mendenhall, following a recent trend of approvals for larger commercial buildings in the downtown area. The building will replace the soon to be demolished Opportunity Bank site. The building will inclue three floors for commercial use and two additional floors, with 29 units, for residential use. An underground parking lot will also be added. For Bozeman residential and commercial real estate, the building will help alleviate the high demand for downtown businesses and also provide additional space for potential homebuyers. The new 5 story building will join two hotels that have been approved in the nearby area, the Element and the Etha. The City Commission has put a recent focus on fostering more growth in the downtown ...

I had a breakfast meeting earlier this week and my client requested we eat at the Cateye Cafe in downtown Bozeman.  I had been to the Cateye for lunch but never breakfast, the menu is great so I was looking forward to a hearty meal. On a recommendation from my co-listing agent, I ordered a breakfast item I normally would not have and it is hands down the best freakin' breakfast I ever had. If you are ever in Bozeman, MT, go to the Cateye and have Banana Bread French Toast.....it is epic.  They take two pieces of banana bread, prepare them French toast style, drizzle what I think was a huckleberry cream sauce on it with a dollop of whipped cream, add a touch of maple syrup and prepare to skip lunch.  Seriously, I had to stop conversation to comment on the stuff.....it was that good.
