What a great weekend to be in Tupelo, MS. Real estate is not part of this blog entry but I did want to share our wonderful city. This weekend was the Elvis Presley Festival. It is our time to celebrate Elvis. We are very proud that Elvis was born in our town and celebrate this every year. Friday night brought a local favorite Paul Thorn. Paul was born and raised right here in Lee county. He is a blues, folksy singer who tells stories with his music. We used to be a pro boxer and fought Roberto Duran. He sings about that too. You can find Pauls music online at www.paulthorn.com. I would recomend you check him out he is really good. Here is my daughter Elizabeth with Paul at the festival. One great thing about this festival is the entertainers are out there for you to meet. Paul was graci...

If you are any where close to Tupelo, MS you have got to be a the Elvis Presley Festival tonight and tomorrow. It is the 7th annual festival and it is packed with fun, food and music. Tonight we have a local favorite Paul Thorn who will serve up his brand of blues and folk music. Paul was a boxer before getting beat by Roberto Duran and then turned his focus to music. He is a much better singer than boxer. Paul has a unique sound and flavor I have never heard any where else. Daryl Worley will perform after Paul Thorn. Daryl is a Nashville recording star famous for "have you forgotten" the tribut song that reminds people of how they felt on 911. Daryl has toured in Iraq bring his music to the troops. He seems to be one of the good guys in Nashville. Join us tonight the Music starts at 6:...

A house can be home or just a place you live. There is one key to making a house a home. It takes family. It is kind of like a church building. The congregation is what makes that building a sacred place of worship. Family makes your home a sacred place too. It could be kids laughing and crying. It could be your spouse fussing because you are on the computer (hmmm), or telling you they love you.  It could be your parents who live with you or your grown kids. This is what makes a house a home. A house is simply a building where we live our lives. It is where we experience the best of life and the worst. We watch our kids grow. We watch them learn how to talk and walk. We see those first teeth come in. We see them come home with good grades, and some times bad ones. We see them experience...

I live in the Wildwood area in Tupelo, MS. It is the best middle income neighborhood, in my opinion in the city. Each night you can find families out walking, kids out riding thier bikes or stakes. Thier is a lot of grilling in the neighborhood, it always smells of burgers and brats. The average home price is about 120,000 and the the time on market for home sales is usually very short. If the home is reasonably priced and in good shape you can expect less than 90 days on market. The average home in the neighborhood is about 1600 sq/ft 3 bedroom 2 bath. There are larger homes on each side of Wildwood. The newest stage was built about 10 years ago, consisting of Bay Circle, Sour wood, Mahogany, Persimmon and Huckleberry Trail. This is the section I live in and I love it here.My wife and ...

As some of you know Elvis Presley was born here in Tupelo, MS. That is our claim to fame. Each summer we have the Elvis Presley Festival. It is a great festival for our small city. It is located in downtown Tupelo. We have a great fair with carnival rides and two stages set up for some great Music. This years line up will include Paul Thorn. Now you probably have never heard of Paul Thorn but I would strongly suggest you find out about him. He is a local guy who was a prize fighter.. He fought Roberto Doran and got the snot beat out of him. He is much better singer than he was a fighter. You really have to find some music by him and listen. We will also have the country music recording star Daryl Worley, American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks, Ingram Mill, and of course some great Elvis Impe...

1. Shop AroundIt'll take some time, but could save you a good sum of money. Ask your friends, check the Yellow Pages or contact your state insurance department. (Phone numbers and Web sites are listed here.) National Association of Insurance Commissioners (http://www.naic.org/) has information to help you choose an insurer in your state, including complaints. States often make information available on typical rates charged by major insurers and many states provide the frequency of consumer complaints by company. Also check consumer guides, insurance agents, companies and online insurance quote services. This will give you an idea of price ranges and tell you which companies have the lowest prices. But don't consider price alone. The insurer you select should offer a fair price and delive...

If you aren't from Mississippi you make think we are not a very good market to be in. However, we are in a very good market here in Tupelo. Toyota has just announced that they will be building a plant just north of here that will manufacture the Toyota Highlander. We are very excited to have this wonderful company blessing our area with such a huge influx of jobs and money for our economy and our school systems. They will be donating millions to the local school systems. Our school system here in Tupelo is top notch but the money they will be donating will be huge for us. It will allow our schools to offer things that were cost inhibitive before. Now we were doing well here in the Tupelo area before Toyota announced so our real estate market has remained steady. We had lots of out of st...
