Pascagoula MS. Beach Park The Pascagoula MS. Beach Park is located at the south end of Pascagoula. The beach is easily accessed by taking Market Street off HWY90 and dead ends at the beach. Left will take you to the Beach Park, and a right will take you to the Point, where you can launch your boat. Ingalls Shipyard is visible from the point, and the old Pascagoula Naval station.    There are three pavillions, a playground, a splash pad, benches located throughout the park and a few swings close to the fence that overlook the Mississippi sound, the beach and the 1000 ft. pier.  There are two barrier islands that can be seen on clear days that shield Pascagoula from the Gulf of Mexico. They are  petit bois and round island.    Some photos of the Pascagoula Ms. Beach Park              Pasc...

Another hot hazy day on the MS. Gulf Coast. This picture was taken at the Pascagoula MS. point on the West end of the Beach. As I watched the Lady Joanne, coming into the mouth of the Pascagoula River this morning. My mind went back to the days when my life was stress free and not a worry in the world.  The shrimp boat was to far away for me to hear the seagulls, but their squawks as they are feeding off the discarded fish caught in the net, is still very vivid in my mind.    I had the opportunity to grow up on the beautiful MS. gulf coast, and some of my most precious memories are from my childhood and teen years while shrimping with my dad an uncle on their shrimp boat. I can close my eyes and almost hear the sound and smell of that diesel engine as it ran during the night while dragg...

Keep an eye open for the wildlife, while driving Hwy 90, along the stretch before the high rise bridge. There are usually many rabbits feeding along the edge of the Marshes, also many species of cranes or herons.     I hope you enjoy your visit, and if your hungry be sure to visit Ed's Drive Inn for one of their famous chili cheese burgers, or chili dog. If your in the mood for a nice sit down lunch or dinner that serves fresh seafood stop by Scrantons in downtown Pascagoula, it is located inside the old fire station, that add to the charming atmosphere. Short History lesson on Halloween from the Gulf Coast As a young girl, my family went trick or treating on Halloween, and always had a good time with my parents collecting candy going form door to door in our community. My two boys had their share of dressing up and going from house to house for a few years as children. Then due to a hand full of some evil people our children's safety was compromised. We had to find a new approach to the Halloween celebration.  My grandchildren still get to enjoy the Halloween celebrations, within the safety of the church and close community functions. Our children could care less about the History behind Halloween, all they know is that it involves dressing up in costumes, getting candy, and enjoying fun & games. Halloweenhas evolved years and the supe...

Pascagoula is located in Jackson County Ms. 30 minutes west is Biloxi and 30 minutes east is Mobile Alabama. Pascagoula, is not a tourist destination,  and is usually associated with the Mississippi Squirrel revival. Of course people who travel here are traveling because of Chevron USA,  NGSS Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, Mississippi Phosphate, and other industries in the area. Although Pascagoula is not the stopping place for travelers, its brings people here several times a year for fun filled days.  Pascagoula has a fireworks show on July 4 th off beach park. The Pascagoula Mardi Gras Parade, and the Carnival Balls are enjoyed by locals and visitors.   Link to the city of pascagoula:  http://cityofpascagoula.com/ We have a free admission blue ribbon fair in October, that last a week...

Pascagoula Historic homes In this mornings edition of the Mississippi Press, I read that the remains of two historic homes in the Pascagoula Historic district will survive the demolition. Wahoo! One of these homes date back to 1840, and the other somewhere around 1890-1910. It appears they have been nominated to be on the top 10 most endangered historic places, and ranked number five in the state. This may just keep them from being demolished due to the new city waterfront development under construction on the Pascagoula River. I for one, would love to see these historic Pascagoula homes turned into a bed & breakfast, or a restaurant so the locals and visitors could experience the History of Pascagoula.
