Today was the annual Ozark Mountain Barnstormers RC Club's Polar Bear Fly. The weather was pretty nippy but we had at least 25 people in attendance which is great. We had plenty of hot chili and a nice fire to keep everyone warm. Its a tradition with the club for fliers to get at least one flight in on New Year's Day if at all possible. Pilots who logged at least one flight were: Bill Wilson* had the first flight of the year. other fliers : * indicates did not crash! We woke up a few days ago and heard a strange buzzing noise. After a little checking, we figured out it was the alarm on our septic system going off because the pump had stopped working and the water level was high. We called in a professional and learned that the pump was completely fried. Unfortunately they were booked up for a couple of days before they could replace the pump. A couple of days without indoor plumbing was enough! Thank goodness we can now wash clothes again and take normal showers! If your home in Ozark has a septic system, make sure to have it serviced every three years and if the alarm goes off call in a professional immediately. If we had ignored it, we would have had a much bigger mess on our hands.  10/29/2010
