In 2006 the City of Ozark asked the voters if they would support a 1/2 cent sales tax to generate revenue sufficient enough to purchase land and construct a new community center (the OC), and they said YES!   The OC has been a huge success for the citizens of Ozark.  It is generating enough revenue to sustain itself and its operating budget beautifully.  However, the "mortgage" on the OC is paid by sales tax revenues generated from the 1/2 sales tax initiative passed in 2006.   Unfortunately, the economy collapsed at the end of 2007, resulting in an overall sales tax downslide of 11.7% between 2007 to 2010.  Therefore, the revenue projections made in 2006 have fallen short of the annual bond debt(mortgage) payment on the Community Center.  The City of Ozark has had to subsidize the OC...

I Fought And Won - Saving A Short Sale From Foreclosure! Short sales are difficult enough without losing one to foreclosure.  But the bank doesn't know they are dealing with a stubborn Springfield  RE/MAX Real Estate agent! Working a short sale for the past six months, the bank took four months to agree to complete a short sale on this property.  Needless to say, we lost several potential buyers.  Finally, when the last buyer walked.....after bank approval, winter hit and the showings stopped.  Two weeks ago, we received a great offer, knowing the foreclosure date had been set.  The bank received the short sale package and called a week later.  They didn't have the latest bank statements and wasn't going to stop the foreclosure date. The seller ended up having to leave the country and g...

Well, groundhog day in Ozark MO this year is a little different than usual. We are digging out from the Blizzard of 2011! Yesterday we got about two inches of sleet with 8 inches or more of snow on top of that. Combine that with strong winds and really cold temperatures and it was not a day to be out and about. I don't think the groundhogs will even bother coming out of hybernation today to check things out!

Looking For Ozark Missouri Homes For Sale In Christian County? I love living In Ozark Missouri and have for over 30 years.  After retiring from the military, our family settled here.  There are so many wonderful estates, and subdivisions.  Beautiful rolling hills, scenic views, natural caves and so much more. I took this photo last fall driving down a back road near the Villages at Hillstone.  Not far from here is Smallin Civil War Cave.  Closed for years, it was purchased by a private couple and is now open to the public.  Ozark is located six miles south Springfield Missouri off of Highway 65.  Homes priced for everyone in mind, check out: Homes for sale in Ozark Do You Know Your City Well - Come Visit Ozark Missouri

Lambert's Cafe - Home Of The Throwed Rolls - An Ozark's Attraction I had checked out the new Ozark Chamber of Commerce directory and noticed several new businesses that have joined the chamber in the past year.  There was also, the same companies that have helped the Ozark Chamber for more years than I've lived here.  What the book doesn't show is the number of businesses that closed in 2010.  Driving to work today, I noticed a great Mexican Restaurant had closed it's doors over the weekend, while another restaurant a few blocks away is still up and going strong. Then, there's Lambert's Cafe.  Commonly known as the Home of the Throwed Rolls, Lambert's is located off of Highway 65 south of Springfield on the north side of Ozark. Lambert's opened in 1994 and has been a drawing point for f...

One of the country's largest homes is being built a few miles S of Ozark MO. There's a lot of mystery behind this 72,000 Sq. Ft home. You can't get anywhere near the home because of locked gates with warning signs. However, you can see the massive home from a distance since it sits on top of a mountain. I took these photos with the zoom on my camera maxed out. The home has been under construction for three years but is still only about half built. According to the Christian County Headliner News, the home is being built by the Steven T. Huff Family, LLC but no one knows for sure who will live in the home. The walls are solid concrete and the technology being used to construct the home is also confidential. The home is reported to have 15 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and a 1600 sq ft library...
