The Christmas lights are all aglow at Silver Dollar City! Here is a small sample of the pictures we just took but there are lots more! This is one of the top locations in the country to see the lights. Every street you walk down is decorated in brilliant colors of lights. Another popular way to see the lights is to ride the steam train. We didn't get to do that this trip but we'll be back before Christmas! The giant Christmas Tree in the center square has lights that are computerized and change colors to the music. Don't miss it!

My father was one of eleven children born to my Grandma Dottie, 7 boys and 4 girls.  Grandma Dottie would have had 16 children if she hadn't lost two sets of twins, and one stillborn.  When my Aunt Esther died in 1969, Grandma Dottie took in her four children and raised them as her own.  They lived in a small town Ava, Missouri, in a run-down shack with a wavy tin roof.  She was a woman of strong faith, and the patience of Job.  None of her children were born in a hospital, or with a doctor present.  Each of her children will tell you that she showered them with so much love and attention, they felt like an only child.  Even though they were poor, Grandma Dottie made sure her home was clean and her children were well fed. Because they were so poor, all of the boys joined the military im...

Ozark Missouri Real Estate Market Statistics as of Oct 31, 2009. As you can see, the absorption rates vary widely by price range. The lower price ranges are much lower which indicates a more balanced market or even trending towards a seller's market. Note: a couple of price ranges had no sales this month so the rate could not be calculated. The higher priced homes are still a buyer's market with much higher supply than demand. If you would like to know what the rate is in your neighborhood or specific price range give us a call today! Ozark Misouri Real Estate

I've lived in Ozark, MO, for over 30 years.  One of the first homes that ever captured my attention was the home overlooking Riverside Inn and the Finley River in Ozark.  In the summer, it's easy to miss the home because it is effectively camouflaged by the trees.  But when the leaves fall off the trees, the home becomes very prominent on the cliff high above the river and the restaurant. I've always wondered what the home looks like inside.  The decks suspended over the river look very ominous to me (but then I have an incredible fear of heights).  I would love to walk out on them just once...just to say I did.  The home was built in 1975 and is currently owned by the owner of a large marketing firm in Springfield, and I've been told that he has made many changes to the home.  He uses...

I was sitting at the computer blogging away a few minutes ago and happend to look out the window. Look what was in our front yard! Our home is on a hill that overlooks the Finley River Valley here in Ozark Missouri. We are fortunate to live in town and it feels like we are in the country. We have all kinds of wildlife and really enjoy it. The only bad thing is we have lost a couple of nice trees because the deer scraped on them! We see the deer a lot at night but I've never seen them this brave during the day before.

The Finley River in Ozark, MO, is overflowing once more!  It feels like it's been raining for weeks and weeks now, but yesterday's torrential downpours topped any rain we've seen recently.  The result is the Finley RiverOzark, MO has overflowed its banks, several areas in downtown , were flooded, and many roads are closed. The Finley River Park in Ozark, MO, is under nearly 3' of water.  I've lived here over 30 years now, and while I've seen the park flood on several occasions, I'm always awestruck by the sight of it.  Standing on the Finley River Bridge next to the old mill was an incredible experience.  It feels as if you're literally standing on top of the water, and the fast pace of the water rushing under the bridge will make you feel dizzy, as if the bridge is moving.  Between the...

Saturday morning at 8:00 am.sharp, my son Jacob and I were at Ozark High School, ready to make the trip to St Louis.  Four buses were scheduled to leave at 9:00 am.  Jacob was curious to see what bus I was going to be a chaperone (police patrol) on and was relieved when I wasn't assigned to his bus.  One hour and forty-five minutes later we hit the road. They separated the boys and the girls on different buses to prevent any catastrophes.  I choose a girl bus because I wanted to experience what it would be like to have a daughter.  We had two wonderful boys but there has always been this longing for a girl.  Things were going great!  It was so much fun having a daughter (for a day) and it really did make me feel young and needed again.  After about 1 hour into the trip I started wonder...

Just a few miles South of Ozark Missouri is one of our favorite places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. Busiek State Park is a real gem and kind of a local secret. With 2502 acres of woods, glades, and steep terrain, you can go hiking and mountain biking or you can bring your horses and go riding. There is also a shooting range for practicing your marksmanship. Primitive camping is available with a permit from the parks dept. Whether you are a beginner or experienced hiker there are trails for everyone's skill levels. The trails range from easy and mild, to very steep and difficult and are most are several miles long. The hike is strenuous so be sure to arrive early enough to give yourself plenty of time. You don't have to worry about getting lost since the trails are well marked. Make s...

Every home I ever purchased was a new construction home.  The trees were always puny little saplings, and I was never very good at nurturing them.  I've always sold within 3-4 years, and never truly had the opportunity to see one of the little saplings mature.  My current home was 3 years old when I purchased it.  The previous owner had the lawn professionally landscaped.  I have been so excited at how much the tree in my front yard has grown over the past couple of years.  For the first time, I have a bona fide TREE....not a sapling!  I've been watching that tree for the past week as the colors of the leaves began to turn....so excited to take a picture and share it with everyone.  I waited until I was sure almost every leaf had a beautiful orange glow to it before I snapped my prized ...

We enjoyed watching Ozark High School Band perform at the Ozarko competition yesterday at Missouri State University. The name of their show is "Outside The Box". The band marches through and between large boxes which are carried around on the field. Its a very complicated routine. The weather was a bit cool, especially late in the evening but it was worth it! We're proud to support our band! Our son is a freshman and plays trumpet!

After working six months, stalling foreclosure twice, working with Wells Fargo and Bank of America, we closed this wonderful home in Ozark.             There was a time I wondered if this home was ever going to close.  But with the help of the buyer's agent, the patience of the buyers, the unrelentless work from the title company and the cooperation of the sellers, we reached our goal......a successful closing. Short sales aren't easy when Bank of America holds a second.  After months of negotiations, Wells Fargo was ready to go, but I couldn't close because BOA had still not settled.  Both banks were very cooperative, once I was in the short sale process. Off to save another Home owner from this crazy economy we're in.

Ozark Missouri is famous for its many antique malls and stores. As you browse the stores, it will probably bring back fond memories of your grandparents homes and of a slower pace of life. You can spend days looking for that special item or a whole houseful if you want. Ozark is a great place to shop for antiques for the serious collector or casual looker. If you are passing through on your way to Branson, stop by Ozark; you'll be glad you did!
