We are holding our first silent auction on December 12, 2007 in conjuction with Landmark Builders of Blue Springs, Inc for the benefit of Operation Uplink.Operation Uplink provides current servicemen and women overseas phone cards so that they can call home for the holidays or anniversaries. It really provides a wonderful break and boasts the spirits of the servicemen and women. They can hear the cries of of their new babies, hear the voices of love ones and let everyone know back home they are okay. The event will be from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. on December 12, 2007 at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs, Missouri. There could be some good news on the horizon for people facing foreclosure, yet worried about being hit with taxes after the sale.Currently, when someone goes through a short sale on their home, the homeowner would receive a Form 1099-C in the amount of the forgiven debt, being responsible for income tax on the amount of debt written off.  This just adds further stress to the situation.  With the current foreclosure market in this country, this bill would help people get back on their feet.The NAHB, or National Association of Home Builders, as written a great article detailing this bill.  "Addressing the subprime lending crisis, the U.S. House of Representatives on Oct. 4 approved legislation that would eliminate any taxes home owners might face when banks renegotiate the terms of a hom...

Just wanted to pass a few things on. As a result of the poor job report interest rates are coming down. As of this e-mail a 30 yr fixed is down to 6.25%.     As the credit crunch shakes up the mortgage market, one group that's suffering some severe collateral damage doesn't own a home at all: renters. According to the Center for Public Housing, 25% renters are paying more than half their income on rent - the highest level in at least two decades. That's up from 20% in 1997, and is expected to worsen.  Rents are projected to rise about 4% this year and next. In part, that's because of a shortfall in apartment construction. At the same time, more renters are renewing their leases because they can't qualify for a mortgage. And rising foreclosures are turning some homeowners back into tenan...
