Never post on Social Media when your taking vacation I have read many posts, stories, etc on why we should never post dates and times when we will be taking vacations and or leaving town. But for Robert Vegas Bob Swetz there are no worries because nobody really knows where Vegas Bob lives in Las Vegas, Alaska, California or Minnesota because there is non public record.  Sure there might be some addresses that can be picked up on fly by night information networks, but these are outdated or inaccurate. If a person was to search any assessor's page from Nevada, Alaska, California or Minnesota, it will show (NO) recent residence for Robert Swetz. There could be some vacant land showing up but NO home.I have set it up this way because Vegas Bob really doesn't want any strangers to know where h...

If everyone had the ability to sell their existing home or the financial resources to make the purchases, there are many great homes on the market at exceptional prices in the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota.  For every home that sells in the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota, 15 properties remain on the market. The median sales price of a home in the Brainerd Lakes area dropped 9 percent and is now at $154,425 according to the Greater Lakes Association of Realtors. The Brainerd housing market is lagging behind the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington market, which was recently ranked the top healthiest market in the nation.  The Brainerd housing market is moving on a slow, steady road to recovery as the number of homes for sale decreased and closed home sales increased. Closed home s...

KATHLEEN LORDBOCK EARNS PRESTIGIOUS DESIGNATION TO HELP HOMEOWNERS IN DANGER OF FORECLOSURE     Kathleen Lordbock of Keller Williams Realty Brainerd Lakes has earned the prestigious Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation, having completed extensive training in foreclosure avoidance and short sales. This is invaluable expertise to offer at a time when the area is ravaged by “distressed” homes in the foreclosure process.   Short sales allow the cash-strapped seller to repay the mortgage at the price that the home sells for, even though it is lower than what is owed on the property. With plummeting property values, this can save many people from foreclosure and even bankruptcy. More and more lenders are willing to consider short sales because they are much less costly th...

Real Estate websites such as: Trulia.com, Zillow.com, and REALTOR.com, are fun to explore sites with a wealth of information at your fingertips but it may not necessarily be accurate and is certainly not timely. When the prospective homebuyer searches those sites, the information they are viewing on the site has a time lag from postings and changes in our Multiple Listing Services  (MLS)  The information that you are able to access is just general in nature and any important documentation such as disclosures are not available. A home with a leaky roof and interior damage may not seem like such a good deal once you find out that information. In addition, if the home you are looking at is priced at or below market, it may already have an accepted offer and be pending. I get a lot ...

I am writing this story for a friend of mine that had a very unusual experience back in Northern Minnesota August 1998. My friend john and his brother Greg were fishing on a very hot Summer day in August on Big Sandy Lake in Northern Minnesota. It was a beautiful August day and the sun sets very late, between 9:30pm – 9:45 pm, and the two of them had stayed out until dark because they were catching fish. After their day fishing John and his brother went back to the cabin and cleaned the fish. Then they went up to the saloon for some beers and fish stories. It became very late and Greg mentioned to his brother John that he was very tired and was going back to the cabin, John said no problem, I will be right behind you. John became very tired from the long day in the sun on the lake fish...

Foreclosure numbers for 2010 in lakes area counties represent a staggering sum. "The No.1 driver for foreclosure in the state of Minnesota is unemployment and underemployment," said Ed Nelson, marketing and communication manager with St. Paul-based Minnesota Home Ownership Center. "Until we start seeing our unemployment rate drop and stay dropped, we're going to see elevated numbers of foreclosures." In 2010, there were 71,556 pre-foreclosure notices sent to Minnesota families. While not all the foreclosures represent a homestead lost, since reports indicate a rise in second-home foreclosures, the majority are serving as primary homes. In a Seminar at the Greater Lakes Association of Realtors on January 28,2011, Nelson presented a preview of preliminary foreclosure numbers. These initia...

This is Christmas Day and by now most of you will have already opened your gifts and had some good things to eat! This is perhaps the most celebrated holiday in the entire world. Gift giving is core to the message of Christmas." For unto this world a child was born", a gift for all mankind who believe. Jesus gave the best gift of all- the sacrifice of a sinless life-heaped with the sins of mankind. None of use could give a gift like this-"for all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God". But we can share this gift and tell others about it for it is the"good news' that the shepherds heard sung by angels. This Christ is the only son of the living God- always was and always will be. The gift is there for those who seek it  - wise men did.                                       Why no...

Just when you think that they can not go any lower, interest rates drop slightly. Wow, if you are waiting for homes prices to drop even more, remember that when these interest rates climb- the game changes.

We took Kaitlin on her first camping trip last weekend. Tabitha and I are experienced campers, and we were well-prepared for the heavy rain we had the first night. But even the most seasoned veterans make mistakes. On our last night, I neglected to put the dry food bin into the truck before bed. A very opportunistic raccoon had a craving for junk food and coffee. Our normal "leave no trace" mantra was disturbed by a trail of Cheetos and snickers wrappers leading into the forest, and gourmet coffee grounds scattered all over our picnic table. I spent 20 minutes securing trash from the woods by flashlight, and putting the rest of our food away. The next morning, we scouted the remaining trash and food on the gound and cleaned it all up before heading home. While even the most experienced...

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED or will learn at some point: No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.   When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.   If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.   Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.   You can't trust dogs to watch your food.   Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.   Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.   You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.   Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.   The best place to be when you're sad is Grandma's lap.

This is not a misprint and yes temperatures in Las Vegas Monday morning at suppose to reach between 110 to 114 degrees.  Temperatures all last week were around the same and poor Vegas Bob has been working outside in this heat. People say it's a dry heat but (Hot is Hot) and it's like sticking your head in the oven. (Note): I have been drinking about (Three Gallons) of water per day with salt pills and other heat additives. Can you think of anything else Vegas Bob can do to "Beat the Heat?" I will be thinking about the Video I took at Big Sandy Lake" in Minnesota with these kids kayaking and wish this lake was around so I could take a dip to cool down.         Last Thursday was a wild and devastating weather night- the kind I dread. Three people are dead and many families left without homes. Since our home and both businesses were destroyed in June of 2001, I truly understand what most of them are dealing with today. We have only just begun our storm season. Instead of enjoying our beautiful Minnesota summer, these people will be attending funerals, burying dead animals and weeping over their possessions and the places they called HOME. I pray for their recoveries both physical and emotional- that they will find this an opportunity to grow stronger in their faith and bolder in their witness. Change is difficult- forced change even more so and yet we all encounter it at some point.      May they find peace in the midst of their storm.

"Rain Rain go away come again another day"   Nu Nu, Sherry and I have been in Minnesota now since last Thursday and it has rained the whole time we have been here. Some times I was able to find a stop in the rain to take some photos and Video. I have never seen so much rain and after being here for one week now I know one of the reasons I moved out to Las Vegas, we sure miss the sunshine! I spoke with some relatives from Minnesota and they did mention the state needed the rain "What"! I asked them how much rain do you need? The grass and trees are so green it looks like your in another world, and moisture, if the sun comes out with the humidity we will be a puddle of water from sweating! Las Vegas has so much sunshine that I can see why people are more active and happy, this rain has re...

This is the skinny for the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Other areas of the state vary greatly from the figures quoted for the Twin Cities. We are seeing some changes here - in pricing, sales and a small upward climb in interest rates. Seasonally we should be entering our best sales season - with another jump in the Fall right before winter comes upon us.
