I was traveling around last week checking out some property just south of Sherwood, Michigan and on the road back I turned a corner and took this photo.  It is a birch tree with some snow on it against a blue sky.  The leaves are of course gone for the winter, but the white bark was quite beautiful.   It is right now 4 degrees outside here in Michigan where I am at and our hgh today is expected to be 10 degrees.

Last week during the low temps I had to drive down to Bronson, Michigan and take a few photos of a house for a client.  When I was in the area, I was reminded that the entire town has all of their fire hydrants painted purple and yellow to match the high school sports colors of the Bronson Vikings. Seeing these hydrants against the snow was quite colorful.  It is really nice to see a community that is supportive of high school sports and has a general spirit thoughout the town.

A few weeks ago before the heavy snow started falling, I stopped by a field and took this photo of some sheep in a field.  Now that we are into the holiday season, it seems appropriate to share on my blog.  They always remind me of the story of the manger in Bethlahem... Happy holidays!

Driving through Bronson Michigan a week ago I came a stop sign and snapped this photo of this majestic tree.  It inspires in me a Robert Frost poem, so I thought I would share this on a Friday.  Hope everyone has a great weekend! A Late Walk When I go up through the mowing field,The headless aftermath,Smooth-laid like thatch with the heavy dew,Half closes the garden path. And when I come to the garden ground,The whir of sober birdsUp from the tangle of withered weedsIs sadder than any wordsA tree beside the wall stands bare,But a leaf that lingered brown,Disturbed, I doubt not, by my thought,Comes softly rattling down.I end not far from my going forthBy picking the faded blueOf the last remaining aster flowerTo carry again to you. Robert Frost

Yesterday I had to make a trip to Union City and then onto Coldwater, Michigan.  Most of the travel time is through rural areas. I stopped at one point when I saw this field of sheep, and took a few photos.  They looked a little bored, and somewhat ragged, but I thought they made for a good blog photo.  Driving through the rural areas of Southwest Michigan as a Realtor, I see a lot of farm life and other animals.  Usually I see mostly cows and horses, and the occasional a pig.  Sheep are a little less common.  Being an active blogger, I have made more of an effort to take photos in recent years.  Yesterday I had a little time between stops, and of course I had my camera on my front seat!

Bronson, Michigan is located in Western Branch County, about 35 miles south of Battle Creek.  The community was named after Jabez Bronson, settler and tavern keeper. The small community of just over 2300 people surrounds their lives, as with many rural areas around the local high school.  However, in Bronson, Michigan the local school spirit goes a little farther than just the occasional flag or sign in the yard.  In Bronson, Michigan the local municipality has changed their entire street signs sign to reflect not only the school colors, but also the mascot.  The high school website defines the student enrollment to be approximately 660 students, with an average class size of about 20.  Despite the appearance of a small community, Bronson, Michigan's pride runs strong in the community. ...
