We have Five Senses - Smell, See, Touch, Taste and Hear!  These Five Senses are taken for granted at times.  Just getting over a cold and sore throat, I lost my smell, taste, my voice and a little bit of hearing.  Seems like my head was so stuffed up, I couldn't even hear too good. It's so good to get a little bit of smell back.  I can smell my orange juice and taste it.  I can't even imagine being without those senses, yet small,l but huge for our every day living.  Being that I had a sore throat, didn't realize I couldn't talk until my daughter called to check on me Sunday morning and I went to say hello and nothing came out!  My voice is just now starting to come back, I sound a little on the scary side, so I can't speak to my grand babies, I may scare them off. I truly thank GOD tha...

My Winter Wonderland back yard part 2 pictures!  We now have a total of 17 inches.  woooohooooo! All schools closed and in some cities - all offices are closed!     If it weren't so cold, temp is only 10 Degress with a windchill of -10 degrees.  I would go out and build a Snow Family in the back yard! Our windchill factors will be dropping to -30 degrees below - Feels like a warm day in Alaska! Be safe and Stay Warm!

I took this picture at about 3:30 PM today - Winter wonderland has arrived and this is only the beginning.  We're expecting an inch per hour until Midnight tonight and then temperatures dropping down to single digits, with a windchill of -20 degrees. We're in our full swing of Winter! This is my back yard at 3:30 PM - I will take another picture for you on tomorrow.  It's beautiful, but I sure don't want to be out in it. Be safe and be careful for all those who have to go out into tomorrow on Monday.  Safe travels to you.  Thank GOD, they will be closing schools.   Our home sits on one acre, I love my backyard, but it's now all covered.

Today is all we really have, yesterday is gone and tomorrow never really comes, it's always Today. We must make the most of every second and every moment.  In the last 30 days, I've lost a great couple and a very good friend.  The Elderly couple was married for 60 years, he was 93 and she was 80.  He passed away toward the beginning of December, their health started to go down and they both got sick around the same time and were both in the hospital at the same time.  We had his funeral about 2 weeks ago and now we're going to have the funeral for his wife next week.  This couple was so dear to me that every year, I took them out for lunch for their birthday, which was on the same day (June 20th). A good friend of ours just passed away a couple of days ago, her and her husband were marr...

Oh, if only we could go back in time..... I'm sure there's a moment in your life in which you wish you could go back and undo or fix something from our past. I sit here today, thinking that even with the bad things that have happened in my life, I can't honestly say, I wish I could turn back the hands of time.  Every decision and every turn I made brought me to where I am today.  I have 3 beautiful grown children and each one of them has given me a grandchild.  So I now have 3 of the best little people in my life today. I do know that we do learn from our mistakes and we sure can't change our past, but we can learn from it and make wiser decisions.  We look to the past to glean from and we use those experiences to make decisions which will guide us to a better tomorrow. So, remember, wh...

What we think about effects are moods and even sometimes our actions. Have you ever had a bad dream and that's all you thought about throughout the day?  Well, those bad thoughts probably caused you fear, anxiety, and your mood probably wasn't that good either. We have to be careful of our thoughts and try thinking on those things that are good, true, happy and joyful.  When you wake up in the morning, check yourself, what's are you feeling? How did you sleep?  If you're not feeling up to par, then change your thoughts, play some real nice smooth, happy and joyful music.  This should start changing your mood.  Whatever you do, don't listen to the bad news, we all know that bad things are happening everyday and all around us, keep your mind first thing in the morning focused on God and t...

Seems like doing the right thing would be easy for most people.  I always use to tell my children when they were growing up, "It's so easy to do right, and by doing right it won't cause you to get into trouble". Why is it that some people just seek to do bad or harm others?  Seems like you don't have to think about doing good, it should just come natural.  What gets me, are the people who seek to the harm to others. We hear about so much crime and so much violence in the world today, actually, it's right next door, or around the corner from your house. If those who seek to do the harm or hurting others, would take that energy and make it good, this world, our cities, our neighborhoods, would be so much better.   When you hear about the different scams, the different crimes on the news, ...

Declare this prayer over you and your household: That you have peaceful, happy, healthy, restful sweet sleep.  No accident, injury, sickness, or disease, no germ, bacteria, or virus - no evil befall your dwelling.  No weapon formed against you will prosper. As you serve the Lord your God, He blesses bread and water and takes sickness and disease from your midst.  If you take up any deadly thing, it shall by no means harm you.  Declare that you are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.  Your youth is to be renewed like the eagle's. No spot, wrinkle, or blemish.  Your physical body to be totally protected in every area. Declare a prayer cover over life and your success, to keep you safe in every direction: North, South, East, and West.  Pray for the blessing of Abraham, the s...

The key to real joy is really putting yourself last and others first. When you're doing something, is it for your gain or to really help someone else?  What is the real benefit of doing what you do and why you're doing it?  That is a question we really should be thinking when we are doing for others and for ourselves. I've seen too many people only thinking about themselves, when it comes to their work, their home, and even others.  Some people have one motive, "What's in it for me?" That really boils down to a selfish person only thinking about themselves and not really caring for what happens to others.  They're the person, who stays sick, always complaining, nothing goes right no matter what they do or say. Get out of the negative pool and step into the Pool of Joy!  It's a great way...

Most people only see the what they feel, so if you're feeling bad, sad, or mad, then of course that's what you're going to see.  My parents use to say, to check your feelings before you put our foot on the floor, right out of the bed in the morning.  They use to say, think about it, you woke up, you can move and you did place your feet on the floor, so everything is good, then you should have a good attitude.  Everyone that went to bed last night, did not get up this morning!  So thank the good Lord, that you're still here! We have to really count our blessings and not concentrate on the things that don't look good and don't feel good!   Think on those things that good, pure, and true! When any situation arises, try to find the good in it.  It's so easy to point out flaws and faults of...

Saving energy is about more than just dollars in your bank account.  It's about moving forward with your neighbors around the globe who are helping us discover new ways to fuel our homes and businesses and to also protect our planet.   Here's a few more ways to conduct your own home energy audit: 1) Hot Water Heater - The older model water heaters tend to be inefficient and can cost you big over over the course of a year.  Consider putting a $20 thermal blanket around your water heater and turn it down to 120 degrees.  If you have a circulating pump that sends hot water through the pipes so that it's always on standby, ask a licensed plumber to install a timer that operates the pump only during peak water usage times.  That's what we have on our water heater - I'm married to a Master Pl...

You can conduct your own home energy audit! While energy efficiency continues moving up on our global "MUST DO" List, there's no time like today to make changes starting right in your own home. You can fix those costly leaks in your home by following these simple steps. 1) Drafty Doors - Can you see light coming in from under your exterior doors or the door leading to you garage?  If so, then you're losing valuable heating and air conditioning.  If it's through your garage access door, you also cold be allowing dangerous fumes in.  Install a new door sweep if yours is cracked or missing, and seal gaps around the doors with weather stripping. 2) Pulling the Plug - It's a fairly common misconception that electricity is not being used when an appliance or electronic devise is "OFF".  Well,...
