The following is an end of the year market analysis for Rochester Hills Michigan.  It compares only residential homes sold in 2007 with 2008 to determine the # of homes sold for the year and the increase/decrease in average sold price.  It also distinguishes how many homes were recorded to be Bank Owned as opposed to private owned.   Total number of Homes Sold include private, bank owned and short sales.  In the latter part of 2008, Realtors were required to categorize ownership status so figures may not truly reflect the actual number of bank owned for 2007 and part of 2008.  To insure that most leases were not included in data, minimum sale price used was $15,000. 57 Bank Owned Homes sold in 2007 Average List Price $220,239.00 Average Sold Price $208,898.00 Highest List Price $729,000...

John and Tammy Arcori host an annual Halloween party for all of the neighborhood in the Clear Creek Subdivision of Rochester Hills.  They rent a popcorn machine, a cotton candy machine and pour carmel over wedges of apples--the most popular from the video below.  They also make their own candied apples and hand wrap them before the party.  Of course, Halloween wouldn't be complete without donuts and cider (both hot and cold).  The only thing missing is the inflatable play station for the kids to jump and the tent they usually put up -- the wind was too high to make them safe.  After the fire truck comes and the everyone follows it for a parade around the neighborhood, they host a huge dinner for family and friends - with a record turn out of around 200.  They also collect can goods for ...

Rochester and Rochester Hills in Oakland County Michigan are rich with great places for family fun like the Paint Creek Trail, Stoney Creek, several Cider Mills, the Art & Applies Festival and the the Village of Rochester Hills.  You can find all kinds of entertainment throughout the year--not to mention great places to live.  This event welcomed the fall season with pumpkins and free family enjoyment for two days in October.  Everyone was invited to come and pick a jack-o'-lantern at the Village's Pumpkin Patch in Festival Park where professional pumpkin artists were standing by for part of the day Saturday to carve silly or scary faces free of charge. All proceeds from pumpkin sales benefited the Oakland Cobras U-14 Travel Softball team.  There was someone creating caricatures, a face...

The Rochester Michigan 2008 Art & Apples Festival is held annually on the weekend following Labor Day in the 30-acre Rochester Park, located north of University in Downtown Rochester Michigan.  This year the 43rd annual festival was held September 5th, 6th, & 7th and included over 250 fine art exhibitors, a variety of food and live entertainment.  Definitely a family event, there was a free Kids Zone where they "Make and Take art projects and several interactive activities for kids and adults--including walking on stilts.  What would a festival be without food.  Art & Apples' had two different food courts--my favorite was the candied nuts--particularly the cashews.  However, the booth attracted a lot of bees.  Live entertainment completed the event--there was a "Main Stage" and two "Aro...

I am loving this market and the Michigan Home buyers that it is bring out.  I was out all day yesterday from 9 am to 7pm showing houses to 5 different buyers.  I guess I truly do love showing houses, talking to people, and answering questions about the property.Michigan homes buyers have many questions about the prospective homes they are seeing.  One question I hear a lot is how is the neighborhood?  I always tell people to come to the house 3-5 different times.  At different times of the day.  I would like them to talk to the neighbors.  Who better to talk about the neighborhood than a neighbor.  Google "crime statistics" and look up the zip code or city on the site. Here is another blog I did on Russ Ravary's Metro Detroit City Information and how to find more about it.  You can go to...

Hi everybody! My name is Mark. I am originally from Rochester Hills, but have been in California for the past 9 years painting the beautiful homes of Los Angeles, including those of several celebrities! Like many people in Detroit, you may be asking yourself, "why did you move back here"!?! Well, as you may know, IT'S REALLY EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN LA!! and I'm sorry, but I LOVE Michigan! and so does my wife (who's originally from LA). But it seems I couldn't have picked a worse time to move back though, right? That's where you come in LOL. I do really great work at very competitive rates. Here's an example up front to give everybody an idea. A 10X10X8 room including materials, labor, primer, paint, ceiling and trim starts at $400. I work quickly and cleanly and am always dependable. I hav...
