Northville, Michigan is on the western part of Metro Detroit suburbs.  If you buy a Northville homeyou would be living west of I-275, North of M-14, and south 9 Mile Rd.  Your Northville home would be 30-35 minutes from downtown Detroit, 25 minutes from Ann Arbor, 30-40 minutes from Ford Motor Company headquarters, 35-40 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport, and on the route to Northern Michigan, andMSU.  Northville is rolling hills with a few small lakes (large ponds) scattered in the city. Nothville Homesare a mix of brick ranches, elegant Victorian homes, brick colonials, some split level, and luxurious mansions.  Some of the Victorian homes are part of the Northville Historical district which is close to downtown.  If you like to live close to an old style downtown, walk for coffee or...

If you are thinking of relocating to Michigan and want a small town atmosphere yet close to the highways, and Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor you should consider Northville.  Downtown Northville is an old time downtown with vibrant shops and great eateries and bars.  One of the fun places to go is Genetti's hole in the wall.  It is a family style dinner theatre with comedians and shows.  A place to enjoy family and friends.  The city hosts an Arts and Craft festival in early June called Art in the Sun that draws thousands of people.Northville real estate is a mixture of brick homes (ranging from $250,000 - $1,500,000) & wood frame homes.  The homes right around Downtown are Victorian.  They usually do not stay on the market long because many people want to live near the city center.  That a...

Have you noticed an increased number of homes and condos for lease? While it seems logical that since the market has softened, sellers would entertain the idea, I was surprised by the extent of it, particularly with condos. For example, homes leased in Northville and Plymouth rose by 133% and 126% respectively, while the number of condos leased in Plymouth rose by 187% and the number of condos leased in Northville jumped by 218%...more than double! During my first six years in the business, I wrote only one lease. In 2007, I wrote three, all on properties I had listed for sale or for lease. It's not really surprising because between credit tightening up and people being nervous about their jobs, they are not as eager or able to jump into homeownership. So if you're trying to sell but n...

Christmas is over.  At Christmas and the holidays everybody is extra friendly, extra nice, and extremely giving.  If we could only stretch that out all throughout the year.  Times are a little rough here in Michigan and I was glad to hear our local Metro Detroit weatherman Chuck Gaidica saying that he was going to be working a McDonald's on 6 mile and Haggerty in Northville.  They were doing a benefit for a school for special needs kids.  I have to applaud a busy guy like him taking time out of his day to boost sales for the benefit.   He went out and broadcast it on the radio this morning to get more people to go there.  We need more people like him in this world. If you were one of the people that went out of their way to stop in and buy McDonald's tonight.  Thanks from all those kids...

Lovely Downtown Northville is front page news in the Detroit Free Press today, highlighting the challenges facing downtown Michigan communities in attracting businesses and consumers. The Northville Downtown Development Authority is beginning to see the results of their recent efforts to boost the city's profile. Following up on a survey of residents about what they liked best about Northville, the DDA hired consultants to implement the new marketing campaign. According to the Free Press article, the campaign has worked with "8 more businesses applying for licenses". I personally can attest to the Downtown Northville busy holiday traffic as it took 5 times around all the available parking areas to finally find a space on Saturday the 22nd! Check out upcoming community events, read an ed...
