The Wiscasset residential real estate market saw 13 transactions take place in Q4 2013, compared to 9 in Q4 2014. Median pricing for homes in Wiscasset came in at $194K compared with $147K the year prior, representing a 32% increase. The residential markets continue to see healthy activity given the overall real estate recovery. The number of days on the market has risen from 163 in 2012 to 256 in the fourth quarter of 2014. Southport Island Maine I took this video with my cell phone back in July of 2011. I'm a sleepy head and don't often rise in time to see the sun rising but when I do it's always special. Jay and I were camping and had guests with us who were sleeping in the front of the motor home when I caught this outside my camper window. We were camping at Gray Homestead in Southport Island Maine which is a small island off of BoothBay Harbor. Isn't it beautiful? The Lincoln county real estate markets posted strong residential transaction figures for the month ending June 30th.  33 homes sold at an average price of 314K compared with 20 at an average price of 250K in June 2008. This represents  65% and 26% increases respectively.  Month over month this was the first price increase of the year and if I had statistics for all of last year, it may be the first price increase in well over a year. These are strong signs that the southern and coastal Maine real estate markets are significantly improving helped by the low interest rates and a return of strength to the stock market.  For the month ending May 2009 Lincoln County real estate saw 26 residential transactions occur at an average price of 203K. In May 2008, 34 homes sold at an average price of 265K representing an 24% drop in volume and 23% drop in pricing. Comparing to April 2009 however, volume was up 63% and pricing was up 4%. The current inventory level is at 801 up from 746 in April. Lincoln County Maine real estate saw a slow January with 10 transactions taking place at an average sold price of 181K compared with 20 transactions a year prior and 32 a month prior in December. Pricing fell of significantly as wel with an average price sold of 352K a year ago representing a 49% home pricing decrease. The inventory of property dropped slightly in January to 658 from 670 in December. For the year ending 2008, the mid coastal waterfront Maine real estate county of Lincoln saw 330 transactions transpire in 2008 vs 405 in 2007, down approximately 18% and off about 3% from the peak of 497 seen in 2005. As far as pricing goes...on average numbers were down only 4% as the average sold price of all homes and condos combined was 303K vs 316K in 2007. One of the special things about living in New Hampshire is the abundance of choices for vacation destinations and quick get aways. With the price of fuel being on every ones mind and affecting everything we do, it's nice to know that somethings don't have to break the bank to enjoy. The nice thing about living here is that it is a paradise for "close to home" vacations. Whether you stay in a hotel or prefer to camp you won't be disappointed. Recently Jay and I spent the long 4th of July weekend up in Boothbay Harbor Maine. From our home in Southern NH it is a 2.5 to 3 hour ride and is just a great place to enjoy quality time.   Last Wednesday, I got a mid-week break from work to take a 5-hour sail aboard one of the Windjammers on display in Boothbay Harbor for the town's annual Windjammer Days festival.  Each year, the town organizes the festival, which includes sailing, a parade, food and games for kids, along with some private receptions and parties put on by various local groups.  I was there with my boyfriend, who works on our Senator Susan Collins' campaign staff.  That morning, he picked me up with Mister Bagel and a coffee in hand (if you visit Portland, go there for breakfast - I'm addicted), and we headed up Rte. 1.  When we got to Boothbay (about an hour from Portland), we met Dawn Gilbert, owner of the Heads of the Harbor hair salon, and the Lincoln County chair for the campaign, and headed down t... 07/01/2008

 Normally Maine is a weekend destination for our mini-vacations but most of the time we avoid the tourist attractions and relax on our lake.  For a change of pace we decided to spend the day at Boothbay.  In addition to poking around in little shops or having lunch there are a number of water activities.Kayak rentals are available, various fishing charters are based out of the harbor and there are plenty of scenic cruises.  Since the day was a little on the cool side for mid August we choose to spend a few hours on Cap's Combo.Boothbay Harbor is both a tourist destination and a working port so we saw plenty of Lobster Boats mixed in among the pleasure vessels.  Lobster enthusiasts can even go out on a Trap Hauling trip that lasts just over an hour.  Other short cruises include Whale Wat... 08/14/2007

My wife Monika posted about our kayak trip at Linekin Bay in East Boothbay, Maine during the 4th of July holiday. While we were there we took a long walk along the rocks at Grimes Beach at Ocean Point. Boothbay Harbor is one of our favorite weekend getaway spots in Maine and the Ocean Point area is a must visit for us.  The walk along Shore Road at Ocean Point has some of the most spectacular views along the Maine Coast.                                          The views just make you want to find a hammock and a nice bottle of your favorite beverage and just kick back and relax. A perfect July day for kayaking Linekin Bay in East Boothbay Maine.While on a 4th of July camping trip to Boothbay Harbor Maine, we decided to do some kayaking.Jay and I set out at about 10:30 in the morning with a goal of reaching Ocean Point and then paddling back to our put in at the Murray Hill boat launch in East Boothbay.
