Have you seen any Holiday Movies this Memorial Day Weekend? I have been doing all the Internet Marketing Tools below for my JUST LISTED Stevensville MD 21666 Waterfront Listing. My Mom called and mentioned that the Great Gatsby was playing locally. So I went out late last night to catch the LATE Show. YOWZA! I loved it. Tonight I have made arrangements to have HBO so that I can watch Candelabra. My Mom actually saw Liberace perform once. Yes, I am recording it for her to watch, too. And yes, I saw the Billboards. Johnny Depp is Tonto the next Holiday Weekend. YOWZA TWO. Just think, I still have enough time to see Star Trek and Ironman. What a weekend. A new Waterfront Listing to market and some GREAT Movies to enjoy! Have a good, safe Memorial Day Weekend. It is my favorite weekend of t...

Once again the sun rose on Cox Creek and Thompson Creek in Stevensville Maryland.  The contrast in colors were a delight. To the East over Cox Creek, the sky was yellow and gold, but, across the way on Thompson Creek the sky was blue and gray. Dew covered the grass causing it to glisten in the rising sun in front of the waterfront foreclosure at Fair Prospect Farm.  It was an awe inspiring sight, warm and glowing.  The dawn of the new day promised light and optimism. Across the peninsula storm clouds gathered over the Chesapeake Bay.  In contrast to the Eastern sky, the Western sky betrayed a stormy dark and cold day ahead.  It looked to be a rough day for any type of boating or sailing on the Bay if the sky was any indication of the weather to come. The morning offered amature meteorol...

For the last two days there has been coastal flooding on Thompson Creek in Stevensville Maryland.  High tide according to the DNR's Maryland Tide Finder occurred at 7:05 AM on Wednesday, June 7th, 2012 at Kent Island Narrows.  The moon, according to the chart was 97% visible.  The coincidence of the two made for deep water at the public landing at Thompson Creek.  As you can see from the picture, below, the ramp and parking lot were awash in tidal back flow.  The handles the ladders on the public boat ramp are just barely visible in the deep water where the piers reach out. Seeing the high water yesterday and again today while walking Rocky reminded me that your home can flood at any time, not just during major storms like hurricanes or monsoons.  Rocky and I stopped this morning to tak...

The sunrise over Kent Island on the Eastern shore of Maryland this morning was really phenomenal.  Following the aftermath of the low pressure weather system that moved through the mid-Atlantic area yesterday, by contrast today started off cool and crisp.  A line of severe weather with thunder storms, lightening and a tornado (one or more to be confirmed) traveled Northeast and finally off the coast leaving a wake a incredible clouds in the sunrise. In the average man's lifetime he could see 28,543 sunrises.  How many sunrises have you missed?  Will you take the time to watch tomorrow's sunrise on Kent Island on the Eastern shore of Maryland or wherever you might find yourself in the morning?

This Is Why I Live On The Water In Stevensville Maryland The sunset on the Chesapeake Bay this past Thursday was nothing less than spectacular.  Driving east from Annapolis, crossing the Bay Bridge, the sun glowed yellow in the rear view mirror.  Traffic was moderate crossing the bridge, but, it was after rush hour.  At the foot of the Bay Bridge where it touches down on Kent Island, I exited Rt. 50 to stop and bask in the golden glow as the sun sank lower into the sky and then finally vanished in a green flash.  Myth or fact, it is commonly thought when watching the sun set that there is a momentary green flash just after it sinks below the horizon. It's no wonder we're obsessed with all things gold.  It is really special to watch the day slip away, turning the water inky dark so that ...

This Is Why I Live On The Chesapeake Bay In Stevensville Maryland This past Saturday was the convergence of the "supermoon", Cinco de Mayo, and the very best day of the year for catching the Maryland State Crustacean, better known as a Maryland Blue Crab.  The biggest full moon of 2012, a so-called "supermoon," rose into the night sky on May 5th, otherwise known as Cinco de Mayo, to the delight of crabbers up and down the Chesapeake Bay.  Myth or fact, it is commonly thought that crabbing on the high tide is when you'll have the best catch, so you'll want to be ready about an hour before the peak of high tide when the water will still be moving. So it was no surpise on Saturday morning when Rocky and I walked down Thompson Creek Road past the public boat ramp to find it crowded with cra...

Once again I found myself walking Rocky (my mixed lab from the Annapolis SPCA) about sunset on the penultimate evening in January 2012 on Thompson Creek off the Chesapeake Bay.  It's been unseasonably warm this year.  I can't wait to find out whether the common saying about March "in like a lion, out like a lamb" will hold true.  In February 2010 there were 34 inches of snow on the ground, but this year the question is how warm will it be and high will the temperature go? No two sunsets are ever the same on Thompson Creek in Stevensville Maryland.  Every time I look at the sky, day or night, it is always different.  For example, two nights ago there was a halo around the moon suggesting that rain would come soon.  Last night it was clear with stars sprinkled here and there. Thompson Creek Reflections, Stevensville, Maryland, 21666 The morning was off to a cool and crisp start.  Whiffs of fog could be seen in the early on the Thompson Creek in Stevensville, Maryland.  Overnight temperatures had dropped into the 40's but as the sun came up, the day started to warm up and it looked quite promising.   Rocky (my Lab-Rhodesian mix) begged for a walk to the public ramp on Thompson Creek.  He enjoys walking there to see what the crabbers and fisherman have left behind for him to find.  He's thinks he's such a sly hunter.  We got down to the ramp to find that here wasn't much wind and the water was like glass.  I stopped to take the picture above.  The Sea Gull didn't stay long on top of the mooring pole.  I guess we disturbed him.   I'm grateful that I took time t...

This Is Why I Live On The Chesapeake Bay In Stevensville Maryland - July 2011 On Monday August 1 2011 the temperature felt like it broke another record only to just barely crest 91 degrees.  By early evening conditions were just right for sever thundershowers.  Bearing down from Baltimore, crossing the Chesapeake Bay, storms approached Stevensville Maryland.  On either side of Thompson Creek storm cells passed with little rain falling between them.  The sun set in the West-northwest sky.  Clouds turned from blue-grey to yellow-orange.  The temperature fell from 90-something to 70-something bringing welcome relief.  It was a spectacular sunset on Thompson Creek in Stevensville Maryland.  Rocky and I lingered on the pier catching the very last rays of the final minutes of sunset. Fewer bo...

Coastal Flooding On Thompson Creek in Stevensville Maryland 21666 High tide this morning was about 7:13 am.  That and the upcoming Summer Solstice (on June 21, 2011) conspired to submerge the low land around Thompson Creek.  The tide was about 1.78 feet and as a result put the docks under water and breached the rip rap spilling onto the lawn.  It was calm with almost no wind driven ripples in the water.  The morning was bright and cool, around 71 degrees, unseasonably cool and not much humidity. The weather forecast had included a coastal flood watch the night before.  And, there had been some strong thunderstorms in the late evening and very early morning that came through the area adding to the total rainfall. Never-the-less it was a great morning to be walking with Rocky.  It was als...

George's and Rocky's Big Adventure at Dog Beach Stevensville Maryland On Friday, Rocky (my Labardor/Ridgeback mix from the SPCA) had a play date with George (a fellow REALTOR's one year old Goldendoodle).  It was time to explore Dog Beach in Stevensville Maryland at the Matapeake Public Beach and Club House.  Located just a little over 3 miles South of the Bay Bridge, Queen Anne's County Parks and Recreation operates an extensive park and beach complex.  While the park and main beach are not pet friendly, they set aside an area where dogs rule and they can run free romping the waters and waves of the Chesapeake Bay.     After a short walk to the North of the Club House along a forested trail, Rocky and George were rewarded with a narrow stip of sandy beach that ran several hundred yards...

This Is Why I Live On The Water in Stevensville, Maryland Wednesday the temperature broke and soared to nearly 60 degrees.  It came as a welcome relief from the bitter cold we had been experiencing.  The clouds came and went and the day wained.  As it came onto about 5:30 p.m. and I was still working and I almost missed it - a spectacular winter sunset on Sunset Harbour on Thompson Creek in Stevensville, Maryland.  Rocky and I literally ran down the road to the public landing to catch the very best view of the last rays in the final minutes of sunset.  Like I said, we almost missed it. You can see the path a winter fisherman has broken through the ice after launching his boat from the public ramp.  For the looks of it the boat either went in bow first or the operator ran it in reverse u...

During summer months when gardens are in bloom and the sun is shining, curb appeal comes naturally to many homes. But when the autumn turns to winter and the sun sets earlier in the day, it becomes more difficult to create inviting exterior looks that grabs buyers from the curb. Fortunately, it is possible to create striking winter curb appeal without expensive or complicated exterior changes. It just requires a little creativity. 1. Add splashes of green and purple. Plants, grasses, and evergreens liven up a home's winter landscape. And plants from the cabbage family add a vibrant purple color. Make the front door the focal point with a large wreath adorned with a colorful ribbon. 2. Give it seasonal sparkle. Transform an unused bird bath or fountain into a seasonal display by adding t...

Thompson Creek Public Landing - Stevensville, Maryland, 21166 Queen Anne's County Parks and Recreation operates public landings thoughout the county.  One of those landings is at Thompson Creek.  A public landing is a place that you can drive to with your boat in tow and launch and retrieve it from the water.  There is almost always parking for cars and trucks with their trailers.  You'll need a permit to use the ramp which can be purchased at most boat stores and some other locations.  If you are looking to purchase a permit while in Stevensville, the Blue Heron Golf Course (410-643-5721), L & B Marine (410-643-3600) and Western Tire & Auto (410-643-5572) are listed on the Parks and Recreation website as locations where you can purchase a ramp permit for the day or for the year. Client expectations of what an Open House does to sell their home, isn’t always in line with the reality of what an Open House does accomplish. Open Houses typically get the Real Estate agent the opportunity to connect with a prospective Buyer Client. I believe the statistic I had read most recently was that less than 4% of properties sell as a result of an Open House. So as a Seller, are you really motivated to sell your home? If so then you need to look at other factors in the Sale and seek solutions there. Here is what I tell all my Sellers at the time of listing. 1. Set the price correctly the first time. You don’t want to test the high end of the market in todays economy, you want to be realistic, looking at recent comparables, and pricing 1-3% below the last comparable property, t...
