Considering refinancing or buying a condo and obtaining a mortgage to finance that condo purchase?  You better act fast.  Effective April 1, 2009 Fannie Mae is introducing a new fee for condo buyers that put down less than 25% to buy a condo. Because of the risks associated with defaults in condo loans, Fannie Mae has come up with this fee. Their rationale is to get up front fees to offset the long term losses they are incurring in defaults on condo mortgages. Fannie Mae will start charging .75 percent of the loan amount starting April 1, 2009.  Fannie Mae is announcing updates to the standard pricing requirements for mortgage loans with certain risk characteristics. For the last week or so, I've been drinking a lot of chicken soup.  And I've found the best in the area in Silver Spring. Behind a plain, almost ugly, facade in a strip mall on Grubb Road, you'll find Comfort Food Central.  Just kidding!  The name of the place is really the Parkway Deli. Their chicken matza ball soup has broth like I haven't tasted ever - even when I lived on New York's Upper West Side.  Lately, I've gotten used to the fat free stuff in a box a Whole Foods.  And Parkway's broth is not fat free - not even close!  They use a wonderful combination of herbs, the matza balls are just perfect, and you don't need to feel crappy to crave the stuff - it's not just for medicinal use. A friend of mine started an annual new years ritual of creating vision board to start the New Year.  I hear now that vision boards are linked to the Law of Attraction, and I can see that.  But I realize that my parents used to do them way back when (like in the 70's) before the Law of Attraction was as well known as it is today.
