Once Upon A Haus: 420 Main Street

During a stroll around Laurel's historic district recently, a few of the homes caught my eye but especially 420 Main Street with its stone work along the front porch, lanterns and trim work, and that fabulous window with some stained glass detail. 420 Main Street is a center hall colonial built in 1870. It is zoned for mixed use, allowing for an owner occupant to operate a business in the same building. Originally, it was the pharmacy (said to be the only one between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore after the Civil War) and home of Dr. Sadler.Laurel's historic district is not nearly as popular as others in Maryland but is definitely worth a visit - especially if you love charming old homes as much as I do.
