Over dinner recently I heard a story about a woman who had done everything right to prepare real estate to sell fast. This story happened in VA but it could have happened with Dunkirk, MD real estate or Las Vegas real estate or anywhere in the country. The woman went through a divorce and she got the house, but decided to sell it so she could have a fresh start. It was a nice house in a nice neighborhood and had certainly increase in value since she and her ex-husband had purchased it in the 1980s. Still, it needed some attention. So to impress potential buyers she repainted and renovated the kitchen, got some landscaping help to re-do her front and backyards. And the most ambitious project of all was adding a brand new bathroom to the house. All of this work was costly and time-consumi...

Ordinarily I wouldn't blog about Halloween after the fact. I prefer to look to the future, not dwell on past events, but I'm making an exception here, partially because I love Halloween, and partially because this is: just. plain. AWESOME! I can't imagine how much time this took to put together (actually, I can, and trust me, this is NOT quick or easy!), but it is by far the BEST Halloween light show I have ever seen someone put together! I'm thinking that I might need to do something like this for my house next year! Planning begins next week!

Give me a name and an interest and I'll give you a Real Estate ad slogan.... Rhymes come off the top of my head. I just rattle them off. So if you are perplexed, send me your name and interest and a little information so I can stew a few and I'll crank out a slogan that's new for you!  If I get stumped, or my brain goes kerplunk, just post it here and we'll get comments from far and near that are really quite dear. No, I do not drink beer but I do veer toward every Starbucks and Panera Store near here. You get the drift. I just rattle off rhymes sometimes but never touch the wine. I do dine on Salad Bars which I consider quite fine. But we'll discuss all this another time. Anyway, I was standing in line one time at a RE/MAX function  and looked at a name badge. I still remember it. Her ...

Tech Tools I used TODAY for  a Southern Maryland Real Estate Business..which ones? Well ,I needed to call information for a loan company that I heard had 20% down lot loans so I used 800-Goog-411 to find them for free and yes , Prince Georges Federal Savings Bank at 301-627-3504 has 20% down lot loans. Then I needed to find an addendum I needed to revise and who knows where I had stashed it on the laptop so I used Google Desktop to locate it. Then I needed help figuring out how to stop my Outlook from crashing and IE from going too slow and the MAR Tech Helpline which is free tech help for Maryland Realtors was fabulous! While on my Starbucks/Panera run, I mentioned FourSquare to the Panera folks as a way for them to drum up business via Mayor points. I won't just be Mayor, I'll be Mada...

I live in a cottage overlooking the bay so I love to decorate with the coastal theme. I was excited when Shore Living gift shop moved to Dunkirk last year. They have table linens, lamps and more. I bought a coat rack there a few weeks ago. They are located off of Route 4 in a building in front of the Walmart. They also have a website: www.shorelivinginc.com   Phyllis Minik, www.WesternShoreBlog.com

Leisa Tobler, a resident of Huntingtown did not win the lottery but she did win a beach house in Florida . Leisa participated and won a contest sponsored by MyHomeIdeas.com. The beach house is located in the Florida panhandle's town of Port St. Joe . Although, Leisa and her family are the lucky winners of a new home, on the beach, a paradise to some, they have chosen to remain in Huntingtown to raise their family. The Toblers appreciate the great school system Calvert County offers their children. I think their decision to stay right here at home, is a real testimony for the quality of our Calvert County school system,  our wonderful community in Huntingtown, and the benefits of living in Southern Maryland. Congratulations! Leisa.
