People do read my blogs on Active Rain-THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD BLOG ON ACTIVE RAIN. Happy Friday to you all. Hope everybody is having a good day so far in spite of the news of Hurricane Irene pushing relentently towards the East Coast. But pray that we survive this. But the main reason why I am writing this blog today to inform the naysayers who doesn't believe in the Power of Blogging on Active Rain. After showing a client a house today,I was headed to the office when I got a call. It was this loan officer who asked me "Do I do 203k Loans?" I said I don't. However I told him that I am definitely willing to learn more about doing 203k Loans. I told him a lot of loan officers that I talk to say that they don't do them or don't know too much about them. Cut a long story short he said that ...

Many of the Prince George's County Public Schools require their students to purchase and wear a uniform daily.  Each school will have specific uniform requirements. When it's time to buy the uniform parents can sometimes feel overwhelmed.  In PG County, uniforms are sold in many of the major department stores including: K-Mart Kohls JC Penney Sears Target Walmart In addition to the department stores, there are many specialty uniform stores throughout the county: Kids for Less - Hillcrest Heights Kids for Less - Hyattsville All American Wear - Lanham, MD Flynn O'Hara Uniforms - Lanham, MD Jus 4 Kidz - Laurel, MD   Though school uniforms can initially feel expensive to purchase they are usually a much more cost effective way to outfit your children for the entire school year.

Don’t miss the Bowie Baysox vs. New Britain Rock Cats game tonight, Friday, August 12. The gates open at 6 p.m., pre-game activities begin at 6:30 p.m., and the game starts at 7:05.  After the game, kids are always invited to run the bases.  But that’s not all, because it’s a night for… Video Games, a Family Campout on the field after the game, and fireworks! If you’d like to participate in the campout, reserve space by contacting Chris Rogers at (301) 464-4813 or order online at Baysoxshop.com. It seems like there’s always something special going on at the Baysox stadium.  Tomorrow night, for example, is a Rocknocerous concert before the game. For a complete schedule of special activities, click on this link to the Bowie Baysox website.

For years mainly since we entered into the 21st Century property taxes in the state of Maryland has gone up. In many areas drastically. Taxes had been going up for over a decade but had gone mainly unnoticed when the housing market prices skyrocketed between 2001-2005. As housing prices went up during that season of an unusual market so did the property taxes. Once the housing market prices came to a halt then dipped is when many home owners really took notice. Many wondered what could they do to lower such high taxes. In many cases property taxes would cause mortgage payments to be anywhere from $100 or more higher than what would be on the good faith estimate which would be the difference whether a person could buy a home or afford the one they were in. Contesting the county and state...

Bowie, MD, has certainly had it’s challenges as far as foreclosures go in this current market. Last year in 2010, one third of all the homes sold in Bowie were bank owned properties, commonly referred to as foreclosures. Many investors and regular buyers are interested in purchasing a foreclosed property, expecting a good deal. Sometimes that happens, and sometimes it doesn’t. Banks price their homes pretty close to market value, so, if you’re thinking of offering half the list price, that probably isn’t going to result in an acceptance.Nevertheless, there are still good housing values on the market right now, including the 61 foreclosures in Bowie, MD. Right now the least expensive foreclosure is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in Old Bowie. On the very large and expensive side, you can find ...

My children are participating in Jump Rope for Heart at their elementary school in Bowie.  Jump Rope for Heart is a great program that allows children to raise money for the American Heart Association. I am very proud that both my children value charity and want to be involved in their community.  Of course, since there are 2 of them participating this year that means double the fund raising efforts. I hope that you will consider making a small donation to either one or both of my children.  Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Donate to my 8 year old daughter Donate to my 6 year old son

Bowie MD Real Estate Update20715, 20716, 20720 - October 2010-March 2011 Looking across three Bowie zipcodes, we see that Bowie home sales were up in March compared to the previous month, February 2011.  The picture was not entirely rosy, however, when we compare last month with last year:  In North Bowie, the number of sold homes remained flat from 2010 to 2011 while they plunged almost 30% south of Rt. 50; Residential real estate in the 20720 zipcode experienced an increase in units sold, from 18 last year to 23 in March 2011.  Looking at this chart from a different perspective, we see the number of units sold isn't very different for the 20715 and 20716 zipcodes from the starting point in October, while the 20715 market has improved overall since October 2010. ______________ “Much be...

Sometime in June, there is going to be a Prince George's County MD Home buying seminar. Our company EXIT Advance Realty has a booth and I am one of the real estate agents who has a slot at the seminar. But my problem is that I have never done one of these home buying seminar before and I don't know what I should pass out. So I really need your help. What should I pass out to potential home buyers when they visit our booth? I want to pass out something that we make me stand out and make them remember me so when they do decide to make that decision of buying a house, they will remember me for what they received from me. Should I pass out a bag with items in it such as a pen with my name and business contact information, magnetic business cards, notebooks with my name and business contact,jumb...
