Weston, MA Real Estate News

By Martin E. Kalisker, Esq., Real Estate Law From A Practical Perspective
As of November 30, 2008, there were 82 single family listings in Weston on the Multiple Listing Service (MLSPin).  For the year, home sales are down 38%, while home prices have stayed steady.  This seems to indicate a trend for what the market is willing to bear in Weston, and homes in the high-end of the luxury range are likely to age in inventory. What is surprising, however, is that new high-end inventory is coming on the market.  Don't the contactors and Realtors® in Weston understand that we are in a Global Recession? During November, 7 new single family listings were added to our MLSPin, with an average list price of $3,779,429 (Note:  this average list price is skewed due to a new listing added for $14,000,000).  Based on the number of active single family listings versus th...

War on Terrorism Exhibit in Weston Posted on November 4, 2008 by bostonkayakguy |  “Linda Bond’s solo show “Pause”  presents viewers with portraits mainly based on photographs from newspaper stories about the war. “- Boston Globe West According to Wikipedia, gunpowder  was discovered in China in the 9th century by” Taoist monks-alchemists searching for an elixir of immortality.” In many ways gunpowder, certainly depending upon who’s using it, does have an impact on one’s immortality. *“Volunteer”/courtesy Boston Globe   Gunpowder also represents the possibility of combustion; being on the edge of something that could create a seismic shift in life as we know it. So perhaps Linda Bond’s use of gunpowder as her artistic medium of choice, speaks volumes about the lives of her subjects, w...

Abstaining No More… In Weston Posted on September 12, 2008 by bostonkayakguy  Dry for over 17 decades, the town of Weston now has wine available for sale for the very first time in over 170 years! That’s right!  Weston is no longer abstaining from having the sweet nectar of wine available on its store shelves. In response to petitioning from the owner of Omni Foods for many years, and in a nod to meeting the desires of its residents, Weston finally saw fit to lift the ban which prohibited the sale of wine within the town. The very first person to partake of the privilege of purchasing wine in Weston, was former Red Sox general manager and Weston resident Lou Gorman, who professed to being partial to white wine; not red. For many, this change has been a long time coming and will reduce t...
