Some mortgage rate programs stayed flat but others saw rate increases. The data this week was mixed. Core producer and consumer inflation data came in slightly higher than expected. Inflation, real or perceived, is generally not good for fixed income securities such as mortgage bonds. Weekly jobless claims came in @ 362k versus the expected 358k mark. The higher than expected claims...

Wellesley welcomes Singh's Cafe to town   With all of the rain that we've had in Eastern Massachusetts of late, there hasn't been much to celebrate - unless you work for one of those companies that pumps out basements. But somehow through the overcast skies, I did find a ray of sunshine in town.  Singh's Cafe, located at 312 Washington Street in Wellesley Hills is reason enough to get into the car to brave the elements. Now, I'm not going to try to be a restaurant critic, but I do feel that I have some qualifications to evaluate the quality of Indian food - having traveled throughout the world and tasting this delicious cuisine wherever I can. I laugh when I think back 20 years ago; a young manager with an international firm in Luxembourg.  I had regular interactions with expatriate fun...

Walter Cronkite…Remembered Posted on July 18, 2009 by bostonkayakguy |  Phoenix has become one of my favorite places over the past few years. Despite its obvious lack of an ocean (It’s lake kayaking for me!) it has the weather and the lifestyle many Easterners crave. You’re familiar with college towns; Wellesley itself is home to 3 colleges, but when you travel to Arizona you learn that it is a college STATE! The University of Arizona in Tucson certainly has an impressive reputation, but it is Arizona State University, affectionately known as ASU that is woven into the very fabric of this southwestern state. It seems that anything and everything has an ASU connection. Walter Cronkite's Legacy And ASU has a very special connection to ‘America’s Most Trusted Man in America,’ Walter Cronk...

This was an awesome boot camp. Lot of fun. There were about 30 women in it. They offered 2 sessions M-F or M,W,F.  Hours were 5:30-6:30am.  After awhile you do get used to getting up at 5am to get to class. The instructor was really great - Carol. I would highly recommend this class for ANYONE looking to kick start their exercise program. No matter what shape you are in, everyone is welcome. The class is wonderful for every level. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

Todays TV programming with its love of fixing and flipping is leading some down the wrong path.  When any investor looks into doing a flip they need to look into more than the bland info that HGTV or TLC is providing for programing purposes.  They belief that I hold firm to is that even if you sell wrong (don't get the price you want) it does not matter if you buy right (get properties at a deep discount).  There are many other elements that are basic but are often not discussed on TV but please don not forget them.Carrying costBrokers fee (appx. 5%)Other closing costs (ie) attorney, tax stamps, liensPermitsTaxes Insurance (vacant houses cost more to insure)These are things you must consider before you attempt to engage the exciting world of flipping homes.  Part two how to choose you f...
