Boston and its Expressway have been a major factor in every Bostonian’s life for as long as they’ve lived in the area. Mayor Tom Menino has announced that the city of Boston is in the process of developing zoning guidelines around the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Rose Kennedy Greenway The Mayor has commissioned a study to create a Greenway district, and is asking con...

Posted on September 9, 2008 by bostonkayakguy  Former South Natick resident Richard Syron, joined Freddie Mac in 2003.  This week’s developments in the mortgage titan’s business operations means that Freddie Mac’s CEO will now be added to the running tally of monthly job losses. According to a report published in today’s Boston Globe Syron’s departure from Freddie Mac may be accompanied by a severance package reportedly in the vicinity of $6.3 million, although an article in the NY Times states Syron’s payout could be at least $14.1 million.     *Photo courtesy of BusinessWeek.com Syron’s severance package is still being negotiated with the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Posted on September 2, 2008 by bostonkayakguy | Edit As the country churns towards the November presidential elections, the distinctions between parties sometimes blurs.  The red states; the blue states…very soon we will see the supposed delineation between states all over the media. But in Natick, red and blue will make its first appearance on September 12th on the football field at Natick High School. Apparently the NHS football team will represent the true spirit of bipartisanship when they take to the field as the “Red and Blue.” Natick Football High School officials have decided that the “Red and Blue“ is the new nickname for Natick’s sports teams. Natick Football *   The team’s colors have now become the team’s name due to town offficials deciding to retire the “Redmen” team name....

Posted on August 30, 2008 by bostonkayakguy | Edit Boston has long been known for brewing revolutions.  It started with the tea, and has since evolved into throwing out clothes at the Natick Collection in Massachusetts, to protest the excessive packaging commonly found in the beauty and cosmetics industries.   THE NATICK COLLECTION   “Ask Me Why I’m Naked,” a shrewd marketing campaign to highlight the environmental impact on our communities and our planet, resulted in employees of the LUSH store in Natick shedding their personal excessive packaging.  Employees, clothed in only aprons and sandals, spent the day educating consumers on what they can do to protect the environment by changing their buying behavior. And while most trends come from the West coast and spread East, getting out ...

Ahhhh.........Bostonians.   First we threw out the tea. Now we're throwing out the clothes!  Today, the prestigious NATICK COLLECTION will be the scene of yet another Massachusetts protest. Employees of LUSH will be participating in a shrewd marketing campaign,  "ASK ME WHY I'M NAKED."   Designed to facilitate the discussion on the environment and packaging, LUSH employees will be educating consumers on landfill and planet impact of all the fancy packaging that the beauty and cosmetics industry is known for.   Dressed in sandals and store aprons, the environmental soldiers can be viewed, I mean ....um, are available to take your environment and packaging questions today, August 27th at the LUSH store, NATICK COLLECTION.   More information available: MetroWest Daily News:  http://www.met...

What Is An Education Worth $$$  The debate has been raging for some time  in Wellesley, along with other Massachusetts towns: “Does the most money equal the best education?”   The other side to this question is: “How much control should individual towns, some being wealthier than others, have over replacing outdated, outmoded school facilities?”   WELLESLEY HIGH SCHOOL   As we all know, Wellesley is currently embroiled in this very debate with the state.  As a graduate of Wellesley High School I can attest that the need for state of the art facilities is clear.  The students of Wellesley have been waiting a long time for a high school that incorporates design and technology needed to ensure that Wellesley keeps pace with other educational institutions.   Students in Natick have been at...

Have you heard it?  The clock is ticking!                                         Exactly 2 weeks from today, you'll hear even more.   There will be the frantic search; cabinets and cupboards being opened and closed.  Drawers closed in frustration.  Doors slammed.   Clothes will be taken from the closet.  Some will land on the floor.  Missing shoes will be retrieved.   Breakfast will remain untouched in some instances.  Hairdryers will be humming.  iPods will be removed from the bedroom, family room, car, ...and other sundry places.   Running feet will be heard...out the front door.  Car doors will be slammed; buses will be waiting. Moms and Dads will start their engines.  And they'll all be headed to the biggest gathering of friends since summer began.   That's right!  You guessed it! ...
