An after school nature discovery program for 8 to 11 year olds.The Nashua River Watershed Association is offering an after school program for 8 to 11 year olds.  The program will meet six Wednesdays in November and December at the NRWA River Resource Center, 592 Main Street (Rt. 119) in Groton, MA. Groton has a great Country Club that has a 9 Hole golf course, swimming, tennis and family recreation. In the summer the pool is a popular spot to entertain the kids. The function hall can be rented for special events. Groton has a great public library in the center of town. The library is on 3 floors and they offer everything from book and magazines to dvd's and museum passes. They have great events for kids and teens and book clubs for adults. We have a great network of trails as part of the Town Forest in Groton. They are well marked and everyone seems to have their favorite. 09/19/2007

   If you are new to the area, don't miss the Nashua River Rail trail. It's over 12 miles long and starts in the the town of Ayer. You can park in the center and that is the only part of the trail that has a restroom. It's a very scenic ride with views of ponds, swamps and wildlife. When you get to Groton center you can fill up your water bottles a short walk up to the fountain outside the Town Hall. You can stop by the center for ice-cream and coffee too. The trail has a 10ft wide paved  surface for the entire length and a five-foot gravel equestrian path for seven miles of the trail from Groton Center to the New Hampshire border.  The trail is open to pedestrians, bicyclists, inline skaters, wheelchairs, and cross-country skiers and is being expanded into Nashua, NH. 09/17/2007
