Oh My Goodness! Last night the Falmouth boys' basketball team was firing on all cylinders, and they had a nitro conversion kit that kicked in after the first basket! The link above goes to the Cape Cod Times article, written by Russ Charpentier, who captures the amazement of all the people who were there. Even the Whitman-Hanson coach said that Falmouth was in a different league last night. It was fun to watch and got embarrassing at the end as Falmouth, who hasn't been this far in the state playoffs in 30 years! There is no one player who ran the show - they all passed, shot, stole, rebounded, moved, and encouraged each other to the 87 - 50 victory. Of course I was glad to be there to watch my nephew do his part!  We will be saying, "Remember that game!" for years to come.

Who knew my freshman daughter could high jump?! A few short months ago she was trying all types of track events. She dashed, she long jumped, and she even put the shot once. Then all of a sudden she was high jumping. Well, at the MIAA State Meetlast week she placed 8th with a jump of 5' 2". This wasn't her best jump of the year. That was made at the regionals and was 5' 5". However, 8th in the state for a freshman with little experience is pretty good. "Well done You!" as some say. The state meet itself was an example of organized chaos. Starting guns going off, warm ups all over the place, events all happening at the same time. But the coaches and athletes seemed to understand where and when to be so that each event could be completed smoothly. Each of my daughters has unique talents. ...

WOW.   Sometimes you just have to say it...WOW!  When the Haiti Earthquake rocked our world, literally.   The World responded.   The Falmouth Rotary made headlines by taking a Shelter Boxand holding a 24 hour vigil on the Common in downtown Falmouth.   Brave Rotarian's and Young Professionals slept in the tent 'City' while the temperatures sunk to 12 degrees.   The goal was to raise enough money to send as many Shelter Boxes to Haiti as possible from our small Cape Cod Community.   That effort raised 8,000 dollars which meant 8 shelter boxeswould be sent from Falmouth Rotary to Haiti which translates into 80 people would have shelter and supplies from the Shelter Boxes. Well, the local 4th grade class decided to join in the effort and held a book sale with all proceeds to go to the She...

It is a Beautiful Day On Cape Cod! Downtown Falmouth streets have been plowed and there are shops opening as I write. The picture below shows Main Street at 7:30 this morning when I got here to the office. Now at 9 am, the traffic is picking up and shoppers are starting to arrive. If you are looking for gifts and presents, come down to Falmouth Village and support your local businesses! The Main Street selection of shops is a good as any mall. And the food selection is better than you'll find in any food court! Well, it is another beautiful day on Cape Cod! It is cold, but the sun is out and the snow is still white. People are out shopping again and most of the streets have been plowed at least once. This may sound funny to those who live in colder climates where snow is common. However, here on Cape Cod, lots of snow all at once does not happen often. We have enough equipment to clear out small storms, but larger ones take a little time and patience. The picture below was taken yesterday as the sun rose. I measured 17 inches with a yardstick in my driveway. It took 4 hours to clear it - with a snow blower. Saturday is supposed to be 50 degrees, so we'll have to enjoy it while it is bright and clean. Stay warm!

It was a cold day earlier this month for the annual Falmouth Christmas Parade. Falmouth is known as having the largest Christmas parade in southern New England. It usually lasts 2 to three hours. This year was no exception. There were dancers, bands, floats, soldiers, clowns, and of course Santa. We had hot chocolate and cider in our Main Street office. A good time was had by all.

There are many soldiers and support personnel around the world who wil not be at home. The video below has come from the front lines to remind us that they not only will return home but that they hope we are doing things here to keep it a place that they want to return to. I post it here with gratitude for for their care, their willingness, their generous sacrifices, their patriotism. I want to keep this country a place where they can return to knowing that their efforts were not mis-spent. Thank you soldiers and sailors.

A short while ago I noticed a pretty woman sitting on a bench outside my Cape Group real estate office . Of course I notice pretty women, but this one had cameras and light screens and a crew all around her. It was like a version of Cape Cod's Next Top Model. I watched for a few minutes and then asked what the pictures would be used for. It turns out that this was for the Appleseeds Clothing store catalog. They chose a few more locations on Main Street in front of a few different shops and restaurants. I asked how they chose Falmouth. They knew about Falmouth from previous research. However, they like to have a portfolio they can look through that show cases possible locations in any US town for a "shoot." So if you want your town considered, get a portfolio together. If you get the App...
