Standish Shores, Duxbury The Standish Shores neighborhood is a private, quiet peninsula in Duxbury. Captain Myles Standish lived here, in an area that was known in the 1600s as the Nook. Now a monument to Captain Standish stands in the middle of a state park bearing his name on Standish Shores. The monument is visible to boats and helps mariners navigate the waters off Duxbury and Plymouth Bay. Standish Road forms a loop, connecting with Crescent Street. The other main road, Marshall Avenue, dead ends near the shoreline. Standish Road empties into the traffic circle at Hall's Corner.
