The rail line running through Dover and into Needham has been decommissioned since 2008. There appears to be an active group researching the viability of creating a bike trail along this seven mile run of line. It seems as though owners, Bay Colony and MBTA, may be in agreement over this conversion. The main group investigating this operation is "Needham Bikes" headed by bike enthusiasts. The formulation of this new project is "The Bay Colony Rail Trail Project". New swans arrived to the pond on Wilsondale Street this morning and one seems to be on the run. The owners just drove them back from PA and let them loose this morning. It's a beautiful sight seeing them frolicking about. The vast number of wildlife hungting for prey at night took the two previous swans. These new owners were hoping for a smoother transition. The report officially began as a review of the Wellesley market and has expanded over the years to include Weston and Needham with the most recent addition of Dover. The latest report published September, 2009, Volume 3 takes a look at the market in Dover (and Needham) from January 1, 2009 through July 31, 2009. Dover sales were slow compared to previous years, down 36% for closed sales transaction volume. Needham, however, remained consistent.
