Here’s what’s been happening in the real estate market in Arlington MA for the past year.   The black line shows the median home sales price. This is the point where half of the homes sold in the city are higher and half of the sale prices are lower. Overall, prices have had an upward trend but there have certainly been dips during the year. We’re in the midst of another one now. The orange lines shows you the average days on the market. What’s surprising to see is that it took twice as long to sell a house last spring versus the time it takes to sell a house now. Historically spring is the best time to sell a house, but this year a closing in the beginning of September gave the best sales price with the least amount of time on the market. In order for a house to close in September, it ...

In April 2011, I will, again, join the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC) Team in running the Boston Marathon.  As I did last year, I run in honor of my father, Richard Bradley, Sr., who has made tremendous strides against cancer due to organizations such as the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI).  Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in October of 2008.  At that time his progn osis was bleak.  Through treatment and research like that developed at the DCFI, his cancer has stopped progressing.  I know firsthand how researchlike this impacts patients and their loved ones.   This year, my goal is to raise $5000 for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.  The Barr Program supports the work of gifted young scientists on the cutting edge of developing better ...

Arlington Center Fire Station Renovation Renovations are underway on the Arlington Fire Station. The center station is one of three servicing the town, all designed by George Ernest Robinson, a Belmont architect. The Central Fire Station (1926) was the first octagonal fire station in the United States, allowing fire trucks to emerge simultaneously in six directions. The tall tower was built to dry fire hoses easily.    Built a few years later, the Highland Fire Station is on Massachusetts Avenue near Brattle Square. The Park Circle Fire Station, serving Arlington Heights, is near the Park Circle Water Tower. Since I wrote this somemore information On the fire stations renovations was written in the Boston Globe.

This process will take a minimum of 75 days with substantial delays possible if the homeowner uses the law to their benefit.
