  LSU football fans cheered the Tigers on to a win Friday afternoon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, against the Arkansas Razorbacks.   The Northwestern State University Demons kicked off their 2011 football season last Thursday night with a win against Delta State - 24 to 23.Now I have to admit something to you. Shhhhhhh ....don't tell anyone! But ........I am not a football fan...........!    BUT I AM a HUGE fan of NSU!  It is the college that the majority of our family has attended. So....why was I seated in the prestigious "President's Box" last Thursday evening for this kick-off game? Natchitoches Magnet School is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and serves students from all around the parish. NMS has limited enrollment, with only two classes per grade, currently serving 320 students from first through eighth grade and one of the best schools in the parish. It's already started, the annual Festival of Lights in Natchitoches.  This is one of the nation's oldest community-based holiday celebrations and has been held the first weekend in December since 1927.   This weekend will be a special time of parades as the Christmas Festival Main Parade rolls at 2pm on December 4th.  Renowned Louisiana chef John Folse will be riding as a guest.   During the day there will be daylong entertainment, arts, crafts, and food.  There will be lighting of 300,000+ Christmas bulbs and 100 plus riverbank set pieces.  And restaurants along the river to enjoy good food.      Then as the daylight fades, there will be fireworks about 6pm to light up the winter sky.  The fun continues into January, so be sure and set aside a weekend to share in the fun!                 12/04/2010

    These are some tips to consider when buying land for building a home or placing a mobile home on it. Follow the tips below to purchase your land.  Picking out a Lot: Size- Make sure the size is big and deep enough to put your home on.  Remember to take in consideration the restrictions for that area or subdivision such as minimum to build, how far from road to build, and fences, etc.  Slope - Is the land flat or is it bumpy and raised in places?  For building homes in Louisiana, it probably better to get a flat lot, that makes it easier for drainage, which means no flooding.  It also makes it easier for the builder to get it ready for a slab. In other areas this might be the perfect type of lot to build a basement on.  What a great week!  I listed a house, wrote 2 purchase contracts, and executed a lease on another house on the real estate side of my work, and with my homebased business (Abstract & Signing Services, LLC), where I offer notary, paralegal, abstractor, and field services, I also completed several big orders there, as well.  I say all this to say ... It was a great & busy week for me.   I finally got 8 hours sleep last night.  The first time all week.  This morning, I feel somewhat rejuvenated.  However, I will spend the day completing my house hold chores and getting organized and ready for work next week. I get to hang out with my family and friends tonight for dinner and maybe a movie,  and then tomorow the NBA finals game.  I can't wait to see it. Go Celtics!     Yesterday, I helped my cousin her with her LOAN MODIFICATION  paperwork she had received from BofA.  She told me, she had not paid her mortgage loan in about 4 years, and was told not to make payments by different people she encountered during her 4 year hardship. The lender filed foreclosure paperwork to sieze her home about a year ago, however, they have not actually set the sale date.  I was amazed at her story.  HOW CAN YOU LIVE IN A HOME FOR 4 YEARS AND DON'T PAY YOUR MORTGAGE, AND STILL BE ABLE TO KEEP YOUR HOME?
