This Tuesday is National Pancake Day at IHOP.  You can get a three stack of their buttermilk biscuits for free.  All they are asking for is a donation that will go to local children's hospitals through the miracle children's network. Not to mention they also have unlimited pancakes for $4.99 right now for a limited time.  I could only eat eight today before I was stuffed like a hog. This is a win win for everyone.  You can get fed and help out with sick children.

Slidell's largest crew parades tonight.  The Krewe of Selene is an all women's crew of over 600 members riding on 25 Blaine Kern floats.  They start at 6:30 at Salmen High School and follow the traditional Slidell parade route. The theme this year is Selene Goes on Vacation.  The coveted throws will be the lighted Selene medallion and the fleur de lis medallions. Selene is the Roman goddess of the moon.

I have turned into a huge survivor fan over the years and try to watch it every Thursday Night.  This season's episode theme is Heroes versus Villains.  Which brings up my point are you a hero or a villain to your client? I believe if we sell a sellers house for a nice price easily and painlessly or find a good deal for a buyer we are a hero. If we can't sell a sellers house or find a house suitable for a buyer we are a villain.  They tend to turn to another agent. When I go on a listing appointment I bring recent comparables just like any other agent should be doing.  I also try to make sure they listen to the other points I am trying to make.  For instance pre-approval for a buyer doesn't mean they will get the loan at the end.  After you have made requested repairs to your home from ...

10 Things You Should Know Before Buying a Home 1. Before you start looking for a home, get pre-qualified for a loan. Banks, credit unions, and mortgage bankers make home loans; mortgage brokers process loans through a variety of lenders. The lenders will take an application, process the loan documents, and see the loan through to the funding stage. 2. If you have marginal or bad credit, consult your lender. You may be able to qualify for a loan depending on how long ago and what reason(s) caused the bad credit. 3. You will need a down-payment. Down-payment requirements vary depending on the type of loan. Many down-payment assistance programs exist. These programs may loan or grant you the funds necessary for the down-payment. Consult with a lender about programs available in your area. ...

Down-Payment Got You Down? For many Americans, "coming up" with a down-payment for their first home purchase can be a major roadblock -- and quite often the reason for renting, rather than owning, a home. A "down-payment" is the difference between the home's purchase price and its mortgage amount. This percentage of the sale price must be paid up-front and can vary by lender, location, and loan program. A higher down-payment generally translates into lower loan interest rate requirements. Typically, a down-payment comes from personal cash savings, but it can also be a gift that is not to be repaid, or a borrowed amount secured by assets. While conventional loan down-payments may be close to 20% of the sale price, government loans typically have lower down-payment requirements. This allo...

The Home Depot store in Waveland Mississippi is closing.  Everything in the store is 20-4-% off.  All sales are final.  They are still taking credit cards etc.  My wife and I were there today and they still have a pretty good selection of merchandise.  The worker at the register said they have about six more weeks.  This isn't one of the big Home Depot store but a much smaller version.  There is a Lowe's located right behind the Home Depot store.  Waveland isn't that big to begin with and with the economy being down I guess it is a victim of supply and demand. Waveland is about 25 miles East of Slidell and reachable via I-10 or Hwy 90.  If you have been putting off buying some item for your home this may be the best price you will get.

I passed by Expo Signs this afternoon to pick up a sign I had made for one of my listings today.  John the owner approached me to tell me he had seen my blog.  He wasn't sure how he found it, but he did.  Active rain has it going on folks.  People see this stuff.  I said thanks for stopping by and keep reading it.  I put up a mixture of things on my blog.  I put up a lot of political things where as others choose to avoid this all together.  I see this as a view into my personality.  I write who and what I am.  Any way if you are looking for good service, prices and quality signs go see John at Expo Signs in Slidell.  Conviently located at 677 E. I-10 service Road, Slidell, LA 70461.  985-641-5889 If you are looking to buy or sell in Slidell, Lacombe or Pearl River look no farther.  Cal...

Nothing I repeat, nothing fouls up the free market worse than politicians who think they are the answer to everything evil.  Following is a quote from Neil Barofsky special inspector general from the treasury. "Even if TARP saved our financial system from driving off a cliff back in 2008, absent meaningful reform, we are still driving on the same winding mountain road, but this time in a faster car," Barofsky wrote. Barofsky wrote the $700 billion financial bailout has encouraged more risk-taking because bank executives, who are still receiving massive bonuses, figure the government will come to the rescue the next time they steer their ships nearly aground.  See Fox News for full story. The free market has check and balances in place it's called "your out of business".  The good assets...

In a recent post "Unclutter Your Home" I defined clutter as anything that is out of place, broken, unused, or just something you really dislike.  Today we are going to start in one small place (a closet or junk drawer will do nicely) and put things in order! First, you will need four cardboard boxes and a large trash can.  Label the boxes as follows: ·    Put Away ·    Fix ·    Set Free ·    Mementos Set an alarm clock to go off in one to two hours.  You don't want to overdo things!  Open the closet or junk drawer and select the first object.  Now we will use the four definitions of clutter to help us decide what goes in the trash can or which box to use for each item. ·    The trash can.  You will find plenty of stuff that is absolutely unusable.  Be ruthless. ·    The "Put Away" box. ...
