Bywater Homes in New OrleansColorful Bywater Real EstateGreat Neighborhood to Walk and Ride Bikes           The real estate in the Bywater Neighborhood is one of the most colorful and walk able neighborhoods in New Orleans and the United States. You see a lot of art work on warehouses and homes in the very artistic Bywater. Named Bywater as it is on the Mississippi River. Once known as the ninth ward.            It is a great neighborhood to walk and enjoy the colors and places to visit. A lot of great places to eat and drink. You can get to the French Quarter very quickly. Parking on the street is not an issue in the neighborhood.          The Bywater homes and neighborhoods are historic and changed a lot in the last 50 years. There were no colors in the neighborhood when I was in High...

Bourbon Street HomesFrench Quarter Historic HomesCondos, Doubles and Homes         Most people think of Bourbon Street in New Orleans has Bars, Strip Clubs and Eats. But there is a residental end of Bourbon Street that has a lot of Historic Homes and Condos.  It is a great walk and there are a lot of Historic and Colorful Homes. I have walked the area many times and it is a great walk. It looks and feels very residential in the last 3 blocks of  Bourbon.             It is rare to see such a variety of homes, doubles, apartments and condos on such well known street. Always fun to walk towards Esplanade Avenue to see all these homes. Bourbon Street does not cross Esplanade Avenue like many of the other French Quarter Streets...         Bourbon Street is 13 blocks long from Canal Street to ...

The French MarketNew Orleans French QuarterOpen Air Shopping         The French Market opened in 1791. The present buildings date back to 1813. Most of the udates and repairs were done in the 1930's by the Works Progress Adminstration. At one time it was a meat market. When I was growing up it was a farmers market with lots of produce. Now it is a large variety of tables.           The French Market runs from Jackson Square to the U.S. Mint. Easy walk to see a large variety of local things for sale. You can eat and drink while you shop. Lots of colorful things to buy and look at. A lot of lookers and buyers on weekends.            If you live in the area it is always a colorful place to visit. At the end of the day all the vendors have to pack up their wares and close down. Then put eve...

French Quarter Condos           The French Quarter is going to have a large variety of condos that will vary in size, style and age. This page will give you a variety and feel for many of the condos that I see. I will be adding to this page going forward since there are so many small associations.        The vast majority of condos in the French Quarter will be used as second homes.  From the map below you can see that the Quarter is just not that large but there are a lot of properties as we review the condo associations.       Most of the condo associations are small complexes of eight or less. Many will have small courtyards which cannot be seen from the street. Parking will not come with the majority of condos.         The New Orleans French Quarter is unique in so many respects an...

3201 St. Charles Avenue CondosGreat Location in Historic NeighborhoodStreetcars, Great Walking and Parades        I am listing a nice one bedroom unit in this condo association which has improved a lot since my first sale in 3201 in 2006. So many units have been updated along with common areas in the condo association. There are 71 units in the condo association. There are one,two and a few three bedrooms. Many of the units have been highly updated during the last 5 years. The complex has also done some recent updates. Painting the exterior of the units along with rails really gives the complex a great look. There is 24 hour security by the front gate.        The common areas in the middle of the building has a great courtyard, swimming pool, patio, fountains and garden. The condos have...

Walk to Armstrong Parkacross from St. Ann Street     Just steps away from the French Quarter lies this public park.  This park is named after the legendary jazz musician, Louis “Louie” Armstrong.  The park is known for duck ponds, sculptures and it’s beautiful arched entrance.      Portion of the park in front of the Municipal Auditorium is the site of Congo Square famous for its role in History of African American music and religious practices.     Red Dress run, concerts and weddings are just some of the annual hosts for this Park.     One of New Orleans hidden parks  to relax and enjoy a nice day.     Now with the addition of the New Rampart Streetcar Line you can ride up and down Rampart to spend a day of shopping on Canal Street or eating at St Rock Market. a

French Quarter Balconies and Galleries     BALCONY is a narrow platform projecting outwards from the wall of a building. Balconies, unlike galleries, are not supported by posts or columns reaching to the ground. A balcony can be small and boxy or stretch the length of the building.     A GALLERY is wider than a balcony. Most galleries overhang the width of the sidewalk, and are supported by posts or columns reaching to the ground.      Many times you will see double galleries where each floor is covered much like a porch. Most corner buildings in the French Quarter will have the curved galleries.     Both Galleries and Balconies add to the value of real estate much more than one would think. Its never all about square footage.  Both support an array of hanging baskets and other tropical...
